Sorry if this was answered in a previous post, but how do I incorporate HIIT into my current workout routine? I read that beginners are supposed to do HIIT 2 or 3 times a week... but what about the other 2 or 3 days I am at the gym? Is HIIT supposed to be my only cardio? Or do I do HIIT plus 30 min. regular cardio on the same day day, or just do reg cardio on my non HIIT days?
Sorry for all the questions! I did my first HIIT workout yesterday and it wasn't too bad (no puking yay!) so I may up my speeds a little.... hey question about that too.... I alternated between fast walking 4.0 and running at 7.8.... should I jog and sprint or is walking and sprinting ok too?????
Something that made my day yesterday: I saw my friend's parents last night who I haven't seen for a couple months, and her mom said I looked thinner. I blamed it on my baggy pants. She said "No, I can see it in your face." YAY!!!!! I thought I wasn't making much progress but obviously I am! My friends dad then joked it was probably because I am newly married and broke and can't afford food (jokingly) and I was THIS CLOSE to lecturing him about how hard I have been working, but I let it slide... after all, my face looks skinnier guys!

I read that anybody should have an easy day after a HIIT day. Beginner or advanced, when doing a HIIT workout, you will be having an extreme cardio workout no matter what level you are at. Maximum effort is maximum effort for the individual and we will get more endurance and get stronger. So, HIIT will always be a challenge, if working at maximum effort.
On alternate days I do normal or low impact aerobics and lift weights. My goal is to HIIT 2-3 times a week, depending on how I feel.

I shall dissent. I just started doing HIIT on Monday; I have done it every morning since then, four days in a row. I have been doing lower-intensity interval training for a while, but I'm no high-perfomance athalete.
I'd say go for it five days a week like me, then dial back if it's too much. It's too much of a challenge and a time saver to ignore.

My doctor said it is okay.
i wouldn't think you should try to do regular cardio on top of HIIT in the same day--i'm pretty exhausted after HIIT and the thought of doing another 30 min of cardio? NO WAY :) i will do extra stretching and some floor exercises like ab/plank/back exercises after i finish HIIT. on non-HIIT days, i usually do strength training or a more normal cardio workout. if you're not doing strength training yet, definitely try to work it in 2-3 times a week. it'll really help to define your muscles so you'll be lean and sleek once you burn off the fat.
What the heck is HIIT?
I've been doing HIIT on the weekday mornings before work. After work Monday and Wensday I lift weights, and on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday I go bike riding for an hour. Working out ten or so hours of HIIT gives your body plenty of time to recover.
