The other day I asked my friend what size pants I should get, and she said a size 2. but there is no way I could fit into a size two. I usually take a size 5 or a 6, maybe a 4 at some places. Is it possible that I have to take a bigger pants size because of how wide my hip bones are?

I consider myself generously hip-endowed, so I always keep an eye out for jeans promoting STRETCH fits. That way I can still fit into an initial 2, but after a few wears, the top band loosens and no more snugness around my hips.

And it really depends on where it is you're jean shopping. I recommend American Eagle jeans, they're dependably stretchy.

YES.  Some bodies are not built to fit into a size two!  And there is no reason not to be perfectly happy in a size 6 :)

Yep. It's quite possible that if you strip the flesh off your skeleton and try to put your pelvis into a size 2, it still may not fit. Can't help that!

Note, if you starve yourself, you may find that you lose your period so your bones crumble and then that pile of bone dust would fit into the 2, but you would be dead (or on the brink of death). So don't starve yourself for something realistically unachieveable.

Just so you know, I'm at a healthy weight and quite slim, but I can't fit into anything smaller than a 13 junior's and probably an 8 or a 10 in women's jeans (unless it's horribly vanity sized).  I have 39-40" hips, though.

It's just how I'm built.  It makes jeans shopping a real pain, but I personally love my curves.

Jeans are such a pain.  I can't shove my ass into a size 2 and I am at the VERY edge of being within my bmi.  If I lost a pound or two I'd be considered underweight.

But when I was younger I weighed more and fit into a size 2 easily because I had the curves of a 12 year old boy (NONE).

Its all about body shape.  I would never in a million years give up my curves to fit in a two.  I am in love with my butt : )

Yep it's the bones.

I DO fit into a size 2, but I have a small framed body and narrow hips.

Don't worry about the tag thats inside your jeans. Just wear what works :)

Yeah. I wear a 2, but when I try to wear a 0, the pants rub my hip bones raw. (and I have really small set hips, im talking small. my mom couldnt even naturally give birth cause of it..lol we are alike)

anyways, I think your hips are just set at a certain width apart. Everyone is different :)
