Hip Hop Abs anyone try it?

Quote  |  Reply
So I was stuck on a treadmill at the gym the other day for 30mins watching ads for Hip Hop Abs over and over and over.

Has anyone here tried It? Is it as fun and effective as they make It look?

bump.... really nobody's ever tried this?
I've got it.  If you're into very choreographed dance routines and have pretty good coordination you'll probably enjoy it.  I'm a little weak on the coordination and don't like having to learn complicated dance routines so it's not one of my favorites.
I own it. My mom bought it for me for my birthday last April. I've never opened it though. I really don't even want it. Doesn't look like something I would enjoy AT ALL.
i have it, and i used to do it all the time.  ive kinda fallen away from most of the workouts except one that is a serious miracle worker.  i do the last minute abs after every workout, and then randomly when i have nothing to do.  its only 5 minutes but its a good one...  it really makes a difference.
Thanks for all your replies.

alayney you should mail me your DVD if you don't want it :)

But bottom line is super tight coordination is not my strength either.

Well, I can give you some positive feedback from Hip Hop abs!  I absolutely love it! I got it in June and all summer, I did it everyday, sometimes 2ce a day.  Now that I am starting to maintain, I do it every second day, but I do find that my workouts are more effective and I work a bit harder now that I don't do it everyday!  But my husband and my kids think my abs look like a Ken Doll's!  I have cut lines and real ab formation!  I turn 30 in a few weeks, and after 4 kids, I look the best I ever have!  I think it is a great investment, but then on the other hand..........my mom tried it with me, and I think she is a lost cause!  I have even left her my first disc, and she just can't get the basic "TILT, TUCK. TIGHTEN" move, so I don't think she can even get any type of workout from it.   I guess everyone is different, but all last winter I was doing the treadmill and crunches, and I never got anywhere.  These DVD's really just helped me over the hump!

Oh and I should also throw in, that when I first started.........I looked like an IDIOT!!!  I have less coordination than anyone I know, but, I just worked on it and eventually, got the hang of it.  I just made sure my husband was at work and my kids were at the park or playing.......anywhere that was not within sight of me looking so hilarious!
My mother in law just got this yesturday.. Im gonna try it.  Im almost interested in the Carmen Electras striptease one..
I have the Carmen Electra one, too.........and the Yoga Booty Ballet..........YES! I am addicted to dancing videos!  But I only tried the Carmen one 2ce, I found it boring.  The YBB, I found not very challenging.  Nothong beats my HIP HOP ABS!  I really just enjoy doing that workout, and it is a plus that I can see the difference in my shape,  but it always comes down to personal preference!

Hello there!

I have HHA too, and I used it for the first week until I fell off the wagon - I got a bad cold/flu... :(  But I will say that in the first week, with that little booklet that shows you how to do the '6 Day Slimdown', I ended up losing like 7 lbs.  It all came back, mind you, but that's mostly because I didn't stick to it.  It is very difficult to train yourself to eat properly, but it totally does pay off.

As for the actual videos, they are pretty awesome!  I'm going to start again tonight, because I've had some bumps in the road lately, and I'll keep you posted on my progress.  For now, I would highly recommend that you give it a try.  Just don't go and try that P90x thing before you start on HHA or something like it - I know from experience. lol.

Good luck and ttys!

i think it sucks...no offense to everyone who like it. i mean it's fun but not very difficult at all and doesn't feel like a workout. it's too easy to do it half-way and not get results, obviously not ideal for someone who finds it hard to push themselves physically. i would say try something else a bit more upbeat. like zumba or something!! :)

I just got Zumba  last week, haven't tried it yet.  It looks like fun, but like I said, I am not so coordinated!! I think I might give it a go this week.  As long as my family is not around!!!

I just bought it myself, and it's not super easy, but it's not supposed to be.  It's challenging but fun.  I don't have the best coordination, but dancing helps coordination-I've found myself getting more coordinated when I go out dancing with friends.

The plus about this is that it's not a choreographed dance routine. I'm not into learning dances, they get boring, but it's really just some basic moves that he makes changes with and then puts three or four moves together.  It's dancing, but it's not a routine.

Again, I just bought it, but so far I'm loving it.  He's motivating, and when he's talking to you, it doesnt feel fake and forced, it really feels like he's encouraging you.  There are counters at the bottom that tell you how far into the work out you are, and how far you have to go... great for someone like me who doesn't like long routines.  I can look at it and say "oh there's only 2 more minutes left in this section, and 10 more in the whole workout, that's not so bad!" and it keeps me going.

It really doesn't feel like you're working out, but it IS work... thats why I like it. Challenging but fun, and its not something that you do and get used to and hate it... its not routine... you can always enjoy the moves and add your own style on it after you've got them down.  There are plenty of work outs to keep you engaged, and it comes with a schedule to help you make it as effective as it's supposed to be.

I love hip hop abs a lot of fun but still feel like a need a bit more cardio but its still a good workout.  Someone suggested Zumba, the original dvd's are a little dated and slow but if you get the new ones they are a lot of fun.  I would really suggest finding a class to go to, they have them at 24hourfitness that's where I go.  Its a really popular class and they say you burn anywhere from 500-700 cal in a 60 min class.  But aside from all of that it gets you moving and the hour flies by.  I'm hooked on Zumba I actually got the video's for days I can't make it to class or days they don't offer one!! good luck!

i thnk it depends on ur current fitness level.

I run 3-4 times a week, for about an hour most days, and I used to do the weight machines at the gym. Now im doing hip hop abs instead of the gym, and so far, it sucks.

I can see it being a good workout if you are just starting out.

oh.. i guess i didnt really answer your question :)

If you like dancing then it would be fun(?)... im not a dancer so when i do it, its all awkward and un-graceful, so I dont enjoy that too much.
