Has anyone here tried this out?  I am so tempted to buy it..everytime I see its infomercial..those damn infomercials..they get me sucked in so easily!

it looks like its fun and not that hard since its more dancing than anything else they said..but I'm just skeptical that it will get rid of all my belly fat like THAT. I should just keep at what I'm doing now and not spend the extra flow on some gimmick but..it looks like fun..

anyone try it..let me know how it is!

I haven't seen it myself but it sounds fun> Hey if you think it'll be fun...go for it.  How many types of exercise do we enjoy doing?  Might as well have fun doing it.  If you're moving you're burning calories.
Is that part of the Yoga Booty Ballet? on anothr one of thier workouts and I loved it! If you hava Kohls or a wallmart near you buy the compleate set there, It includes hip hop abs and three other work outs and its cheeper. good luck!
Beachbody actually has two different types of hip hop abs.  One is done by YBB and then another is done by someone else.  I have the one by YBB and it's great.  Haven't tried the other one yet, but it looks fun :).
So I'm looking at Hip Hop Abs right now (with Shaun T), and this guy is funny!  For one thing, he's got beautiful abs, just beaaaautiful, and for another, he's got that gay male sensibility that just cracks me up every time.

So far it's fun, I'll let you know what I think after I do it!

I purchased hip hop abs 3 wks ago and I'm a 40 yr. old and its really fun and the guy IS funny. The moves are easy but you do feel the impact on the muscles and it does make you sweat, there are at least 6 or 7 different workouts so you don't get bored. I'm even learning how to dance a little hip hop okayyyyyyyy, lol. Try it, you will like it.
I'm 29 and my girl just burned it for me recently. It is fun. If you like to dance. And the cool part is like some of those tapes u have to listento the boring teacher. this one gives you the option to make the music louder where it drowns out shuan. and he is fine to look at but must be gay..lol you'll see when u get it..lmao

But I think its great Ive only tryed the 1st workout but i felt it in my abs though
Just started on Hip Hop Abs and I love it!  Hubby and I do the dances together, which makes it really fun.

The guy doing the video is hilarious and the combinations are really pretty easy.  I definitely recommend this as fun cardio.
courtbarb, have you noticed any results?
I finally got my workout area cleaned up enough to give me space to try out this DVD. I've done it twice now, two days in a row. I have only done the basic workout so far. Here's my critique:

The first day I have to admit I was disappointed. The moves are much more like typical low-impact aerobics, than learning real hip-hop moves you could use on a dance floor. (Not that I go dancing all that much anymore!). My daughters, 12 and 14, agreed and made fun of it. "Mooommm, that's NOT hip-hop! THIS is hip-hop!!" Etc.

Also it seemed so easy, and because I was still getting the hang of the moves and tripping over my feet (it's been years and years since I did any aerobics), didn't really seem to get my heart rate up. I actually went for a run afterwards, because I felt I needed more of a challenge.

So I was disappointed and fearing I'd wasted my money. Then I woke up the next morning to find that my ABS WERE IN AGONY!! Obscure little muscles I didn't even know existed. LOL!

So I gave it one more chance, and popped it in again yesterday, after a 20 minute run. This time, I played it with the music loud. The moves are easy enough going through the tape once was enough to get the idea, and Shaun's constant commentary can be distracting to those of us who need to hear the beat of the music to get our feet in the right direction.

This second time I really worked it and got into it. Yes, my heart rate went up. No, it's still not really hip-hop dancing, or anything I'd do on the dance floor (if I ever stayed up later than 11 PM ever again). But, Yes, it was a lot of fun! And the 30 minutes seemed to fly right by.

Later that night, I noticed that my abs were completely bloated - flushed with water. Just like when you run and your thighs retain water temporarily. It was an uncomfortable feeling, particularly since I had chosen to wear some tight-fitting pants last night. And I was having some weird muscle spasms in my gut too.

This morning the swelling is down, I still have muscle soreness (the good kind, when you know something good is happening) and my DH just said to me, "Wow, I can see a difference already!" He wasn't just humoring me either.

So I think I'm going to keep up with this and give it the 6-week test. :-)
I did it once...and i watched the video for "Zumba"...i laughed so hard!...of course it was in spanish and they wore these weird lil outfits. Anyways., Hip Hop Abs is good cardio but the music is dreadful and i worked up more of a sweat running...plus theres nothing like the burn of a couple sit ups lol

oh...and if you have limewire..you could just download it and check it out first...maybe try it a little then decide if you really want to do it XD

And Jenmcc...i say that all the time to my mom lol...and dont do pilates infront of them XD

It's probably fun and good to add to a daily routine for and endorphin boost. Learning the moves could make you a better dancer. Once you get accustomed to doing everything on the tape it won't really help you anymore though besides the caloric cost (which will be much less once your muscles can do it efficiently, and especially if you're not overweight).

The problem with aerobics is that they're fun but not scientific. You can't measure them, so you can't track progress, and progress is what is important for long-term alterations. You will also not lose fat if you are eating more calories than you consume.

A big problem with the tape is that the standing crunch, the 'core movement' so to speak of hip hop abs, barely engages the core at all, in fact standing motionless would stress the abdominals more. A muscle shortening does not mean it's actually receiving any stimulation. The standing crunch is an abdominal movement, so HHA misleads you.

But it doesn't really matter, because even though it won't strengthen or build your abs in any way, it's possible to burn fat doing aerobics, and fat is burned evenly (ala, doing ab stuff doesn't burn fat off of abs any more than it would legs or vice versa) so by eating less than you burn, the fat will lessen and the muscles will be more obvious so you'll look more 'cut/toned/defined' or whatever they're calling it (I hate buzz phrases).

Dancing like this is aerobics, it's not a suitable cardiovascular exercise. Cardio has to be progressive and adaptive, it has to be scientifically measured to be effective. The greatest cardio stimulus you'll likely get will be your first workout. Once you're performing all the moves effectively, your heart will be stressed less and less with each workout as your body becomes more efficient. This will cause any of your gains to eventually reverse as the added heart and vascular system expansion will not be needed. That's why you have to measure heart rate and surpass it, or measure something obvious like running distance/time/speed.
sounds like a fun abs workout!  i like videos that are difficult but are kinda funny (but not too annoying) ... they make the time fly by!  thanks jen for that review and congrats on the ab compliments from your "DH" ... what's a DH?
I am a dancer, and I have watched the workout videos, but they just don't work for me. The best way I get hip-hop abs is by actually doing hip-hop! Find a local dance studio ad sign up there for a hip-hop class! It'll be fun, plus you get more one on one attention from the teacher than form the video instructor
Hello to all. . . I'm 43 and I absolutely love it!  One thing I learned is that you can't just stop at one time.  There is a schedule that they send with your videos and it tells you what you should do everyday. . and yes they even give you a day of rest.  I like the first one so much I bought the entire set.  I have to admit it took me a full week to get in the routine but once I learned all the moves it was more like fun instead of exercise.  What I thought would have taken me 2 or 3 months has only taken me 3 weeks.   After just 3 weeks I have not only lost 1 1/2 inches but I have also found more energy to get me through the day.
Hi I am new to this and I am also interested in the hip hop abs I read one girl that had her friend burn it for her can you send me a copy I live in San Antonio, Texas..?? It is kind of expensive.  Anyways have any of you seen results in 6 days?

Hi - I downloaded Hip Hop Abs thru Utorrent (www.utorrent.com). You can use utorrent for lots of different downloads, movies, etc. Anyways, DL the program and then search for "hip hop abs torrent" on the internet and find it (and you'll have to burn it to DVD)- there's 4 discs:

1. Fat Burning Cardio and Secrets to Flat Abs 2. Ab Sculpt and Total Body Burn 3. Hips Buns & Thighs 4. Last Minute Abs

I got them all! And FREE!! I know, I know... its WRONG but I don't care. I'm a broke stay at home mom looking for a good work out program. And guess what... I found it!

After one week I LOVE IT!!! My stomach is already flat and feels i just feel so good. And the videos are alot of fun!!! I like to dance and I don't care if I don't look cool doing it or if i'm not learning TRUE hip hop moves, its all good!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!
I just ordered, I couldn't resist...It took me almost 10 minutes to decline all of the additional "add on" bonuses.

It should be fun, and if it's not, I'll resell it on e-bay.
WOW, I wish I knew about the download thing before i bought these last week.  I watched the first one, and it didn't look too intense to me.  But when I previewed it Sean made me laugh out loud when "Doncha" came on.  (I'm chuckling even as I think about it.)

Are the workouts on the Ultimate Resuts disc harder?
howdy!

I was hooked on this infomercial but want to download it and check out the music and workout before I buy (which I will buy from wal-mart, NOT the site/number)....

When I tried to find it on limewire I ended up with "beach body" but I understand now that it's a series of 4 videos.  I'll look for the torrent tonight!

I read the infomercialscams site...... YIKES, I hate outsorced customer service, sounds like a nightmare!  I might call them just to screw with them though, lol
