have you hit a plateau? if you have, how long did it last? what did you do to break it?
i will start..... yes i have plateau. it has lasted for about 7 months. i have tried everything i can think of to break it and still havent.......
by reading what helped you, maybe i can break mine.
thanks and have a great day.
Sorry, I have yet to hit a plateau. However I am only losing average 3lbs a month so it is pretty slow and consistant. I haven't worked out yet during this weight loss and I decided once I do plateau I will begin my workout routine and for that one week I start not really watch what I eat so I can "trick" my body.
One thing I did (on accident) was eat more than I usually do for one week (last week due to a weird week of things) and it bumped me down 2lbs! After that I went back to counting my calories and my normal routine and things have been fine.
Plateau's stink. I've been at the same weight for a month. I run between 2.5 - 4 miles every day, strength training twice a week and stick to 1,600-1,700 calories everyday. No change :(
I have been on my plateau for about 5 months now. I have tried playing with different calorie amounts, exercise, eating 6 times a day, eating twice a day, and so on. Fortunately, I may have broken it just recently by eating about 1500 calories a day and doing cardio for an hour 3 days a week and weight lifting and cardio for 2 days. My exercise plan is no longer optional and I am allowed a cheat day once a week. The cheat day seems to tricker a weight loss, maybe because it shocks the metabolism?
Anyways, I know it is no fun being on a plateau and it is incredibly frustrating. Just keep your chin up and find a new plan that works. Good luck!
I have definitely also been on the plateau. I would agree with ephinzat in saying that cheat day sped up my weight loss.
Stuck at 150 forever, then ate like a pig and drank on Vday, and though I felt horrible the next day, the scale had finally budged and dropped 5 pounds over the week.
I have read a lot about plateaus (stuck at 150 for 2 months gives you a lot of time) and I saw a lot of recommendations to change workouts, cycle eating, do the staggered caloric intake thing, and start eating more.
It sure does suck, but you can do it.
Hey,
I am new here, and this reply to your post will be the first thing I did anything on this site)) hooray!
The reason I have joined this site is because of this "plateau." I lost from 150 to 130. And I am still 130 unfortunatly, though I have tried everything I could.
I am going to eat vegetables and lose the nuts ive been eating lately, and see what happens then. I will also increase my gym visits to everyday, and maybe purchase a nutrition and exercize book...
I'd recommend trying a detox diet for 1 week, I hear it is ridiculously powerful.
Ciao,
M
l don't know if l hit a plateau or not, but last month when l started lifting weights, it took 3long weeks for the scale to move!!. But according to my curves book (bought at a garage sale and no l don't do curves) it says to use eat every 3 hours from the 'free food list' which are pretty much veggies.
The curves carb sensitive plan is just like the diabetic diet, but aside from the regular meals you are encouraged to increase your calories by snacking every 3hours or so especially on veggies that grow about the ground, to get your metabolism moving again.
Goodluck.
thanks for the comments. i took the weekend off from counting and workouts... i soon find out to see what happens.... i might try no carbs for a week to see if that works....
plateau is the dreaded bite! ![]()
still trying!!
You can do it!! :)
thanks courtney! its been 6 months and i havent gave up yet.... altho i have really thought about it serveral times!
I just broke my 4 month long plateau a few days ago. :p For 3 weeks, I increased my calories, changed the intensity of exercise workouts (from vigorous to a bit relaxed) and added more rest days. I finally lost a pound after that! I'm off to a slow start, but at least the scale moved downward for the first time in 4 months!
I hit a plateou every 5 pounds. When that happens I change my exersize routine and up my protien and calories. then I go back down to my 1200-1500 calorie range when I knotice the weight is coming off. I don't know if it works for anyone else, but it has worked for me these last few months. I get stuck sometimes because I'm an Emotional binge eater... but I'm trying to work past that.
wow I definitely hit a plateu for about 3 weeks from late January to mid February. It sucked, I felt like I was going nowhere. I was eating healthy and in the right calorie range, and exercising daily. I was at 150 forever!!! But I figured out that I was losing fat but gaining muscle. I ran 2 miles everyday and worked out my arms or legs switching off everyday. So, even though I was not "losing" weight on the scale, I gained muscle which weighs more than fat! So I still felt like I was losing weight, because I was beginning to look more toned. After the past 3 weeks, of not exercising as much, and eating a little more, I am losing weight slowly but surely. I will get back to exercising almost every day and I'm sure that will help me become more healthy. So a plateu isn't always a bad thing, it seems like its your body's way of readjusting to the weight loss and maybe even building up some muscle tone! Good luck
way to go for you all that broke your plateu!! i still trying!!
Yea, jumped on the scale this morning and lost two whole pounds! Plateau broken and eight more pounds to go to meet my goal weight. Yippee!
way to go tciherr!! and good luck with the last 8 pounds!
Several times, had to revamp and make more strict my diet on multiple occasions due to plateaus. I lost about 18 lbs after the first big plateau with a lot of trial and error... I'm going at it these next 2 months experimenting with a new diet and hopefully will lose the last 10.
ibez, way to go on looseing!! good luck with the last 10!
still trying to break it here.
still trying
