Hit A Plateau
So for the past month I have been teetering around 230lbs. (some days I am pound or two heavier and some days I am lighter). I've been trying to differ things in my diet and exercise but still no luck. It's been getting more frustrated so I've started eating wrong foods again in which I have to work my behind off so I can stay. I will admit that's part of the problem, but this occured long before I fell into a bad routine. I tried to do a veggie and fruit detox (only eat fruits and vegetables when I felt hungry) which only lasted about 75% day because I was so sick I could barely walk. I know that is part of detoxing but I am not at a point where I can get time off and need to function.
Any ideas for when you hit a plateau?
"Detoxing" is a sham. it makes you feel like crap because it's just plain starvation, nothing more. Your kidneys detox your body naturally, starving yourself isn't going to help it any. So stop doing those.
You need to post more information to get help on your diet. How many calories are you eating daily? At your weight, you should be eating around 1700-1800 calories. Anything much less can cause your weightloss to stall.
you should ask about how to do a proper diet in the weightloss forum instead of doing fad diets which most are just yo-yo dieting. Fats, proteins, and carbs are all necessary detoxing will only help u shed a few pounds of water weight thats it and then you starve and then after that you give up and hoard food
I always suggest that you start from first principles. Which would be to make sure that your calorie intake target is still appropriate for your age, size and level of activity. Next.... keep your food log as accurately as possible, weighing portions and cooking your own food rather than guessing or relying on packet info. Unfortunately, the most common reason for failing to lose weight is usually 'eating more than you think'
Make up your calorie intake with good quality foods... vegetables, wholegrains, lean meat/fish, fruit, oils.... and keep them interesting and enjoyable so that you're happy with your menu. Wholesome foods are more satisfying to eat and so you need less of them. But don't 'detox' or anything daft.... doesn't really work.
Be well-prepared, have the right foods around you, plan meals in advance.... try to avoid being caught on the hop. If you do the groundwork you can make it much easier to eat well than to eat badly.
Keep a regular exercise programme and also try to build activity into your regular day so that you're moving around as much as possible.
Finally.... one day this weekend have a day where you get your full energy needs (your 'total burn' in CC terms). A day like this can boost your energy-levels and mean your body burns energy just a little quicker than normal.
Good luck
i dunno abt detox and all that jazz. but i've been on a plateau for a few weeks. (really annoying b/c i've been busting my butt working out harder just to see a difference) so this week i decided to keep my workouts the same and eat the same # of cals. but instead of what i did before, i'm eating the majority of my food early in the morning (right after working out) and then less for lunch and dinner. that way i'm not eating too close to bed time and i can have the whole day to metabolize my food (also i have a longer night time fast before my morning weigh-in). i also tried to put more fruit and veggies and protien (in the form of egg whites) in my diet so that i eat a whole lot less carbs and starchy crud.
these last couple days i've started to lose again. so i can't say if it's a great permanent fix, but it's the first downward slide (even if only a few days worth) i've had in weeks.
hope that helps ![]()
