hitting a dead end :(
I've been at this for about a year now, but I've just started exercising for the last 3 months.
My body fat percentage was down 1% since last month but my weight was up by 2 lbs.
I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but I'm getting frustrated and worried. I mean, I'm approaching overweight (I weight 133 lbs) steadily and I feel that I weigh more now than I did last year (when I was around 120) and I practically starved myself and did no exercise.
I am fitter (like I can run a lot more, and I am more flexible) but I see no physical results other than that and its worrying me.
any suggestions?
Measure your waist, hips, arms, etc. How are your clothes fitting?
How much are you eating and what are your stats? You might be overdoing it. I did when I started exercising. But I started eating more and started losing again, and it kept going for a while. But now my deficit is too small and all my loss is from exercise. I'm ready to start eating a bit less again, but this time I'm going to be more careful.
my clothes don't really fit any different
and my measurements say I'm up in the stomach but down by like 0.25 inches in the arms and thighs (which isn't that much)
I eat about 1500-1700 calories a day but on days with exercise, I add in a small 250 calorie meal after I work out as well
and I exercise for 30 mins at least 3 times a week with circuit training (that's about 300 calories for 30 minutes since I really push myself)
You probably need to eat just a little less if you want to lose/maintain. But you're a teenager, right? How old are you? I would avoid restricting too much at your age because your body is still growing and needs nutrients to do it right. You only get one shot at physical maturity, you know?
I'm pretty sure 1500-1700 is "maintenance" level for you, and when you eat back your exercise calories, you're continuing to maintain. The pound or two you added is probably from eating a tad over maintenance (120 calories/day = 1 pound per month). Or it could be TTOM, or water weight, or normal fluctuation, or growth. How often do you weigh?
How old? How tall?
I'm 16, 5'2
my bmr is apparently 1850 calories (or something like it... so I'm not sure)
the scale isnt the only thing that should be used if ur bf percentage went down 1 you put on some muscle so congrats also your measurements have went down im sure!
oh god you sound like me, exactly. i'm the same way, my bf went down but my weight went up. I think I've figured it out, i lost my fat and gained muscle
so maybe that's whats going on with you?
its only a number, remember. anyway, congrats on being fitter!
