hiya newbie asking a stupid question

i have only just found this site, and wow fab site it is too

anyway on the recipes it states a cup of this and a cup of that e.g

now my stupid question is how much is a cup?? or is it just a cup and to use the same cup iyswim, also all purpose flour is that self raising or plain??

"1 cup" = 8 ounces= 240 ml= 48 teaspoons= 16 tablespoons= 1/2 pint

All purpose flour is plain white flour.
