so I just bought a spiffy new digital scale...which weighs me at 3lbs heavier than my old one did.

do I adjust my weight on my weight log? or do I just not log my weight until my new scale says what my old one did?

I'm pretty sure my new scale is the accurate one-since my old one went wonky with its readings, which is why I replaced it.

~sigh~

I would record it but put a comment that its the new scale
Or maybe go back and add 3 lbs to your old recordings? That way when you're looking at it, it doesn't look like you've gained. I know it would bother me, comment or no comment, to see an increase not to my doing.
I got a new scale last night and was wondering the same thing. I hate to put it down as a gain.ugh!!!
~sigh~

darn accurate scales....
I went thorugh my log and changed ever weigh in to 3 pound heavier when that happened to me -- i couldn't live with the gain on my chart -- iut took a long time though
how do you find a good, reliable scale? How do you know if your scale is not-so-great? Should I throw something on it that I already know the weight of, and see how it measures?
I was wondering the same thing about a "good, reliable scale". I would really like to 'invest' in something that measures my body fat and stuff too. Even though it isn't that accurate, it would be nice to have a ball-park figure to work with.

Also, Hi. I'm New.

As for your situation, I would say just add the 3 lbs and use it as more motivation.

i have some weightwatchers scales that also measure your body fat and theyre fab - its great to see it go down...mine has gone down from 26.8 to 25.8 and it makes me feel a lot healthier knowing that!
I had the same thing happen.  I knew my new scale was more accurate than my ancient bathroom scale, so I adjusted my weight log to the new reading.  It was a painful thing to do, but I knew I'd lost weight and that sooner or later the chart would show it, and it has.

My sister bought a new scale and it weighs me 11lbs  lighter. :0
I LOVE her scale.

That can't be right , right ?
I bought the Weight Watchers digital scale and find it quite consistent. It measures body fat, BMI, body fat % and water%. it allows you to program for different people.

I bought it at Target for about $50.

Louise.
this scale weighed me the same no matter where I put it on the floor-including the carpet.

if it isn't accurate, it's at least consistent. XD

my doctor's office scales weighed me three pounds heavier last time I was there, so I figured mine wasn't doing so well.
wanna hear a story?
i really wanted a new scale. i had been using the same one for about 5 years that i bought at the dollar store for around $5. we don't ever have any money for extra stuff so i would go to store and look at them and tell my husband i wanted one for christmas. he said that he couldn't get me a scale for christmas that just seemed soooo wrong. i told him i really wanted one and that was the only way i would ever get one.....christmas morning came and when i opened my presents, there it was. my beautiful new health-o-meter scale all white and shiney and new. i took it into the bathroom. took it out of the box. programed my weight and height. stepped on. christmas morning of 2005 i suddenly gained 20 LBS!!!!!!!!!!! merry christmas to me! for the last 6 months i had thought i weighed 20lbs less than i did. that made me relize i had only lost about 5 or 10 lbs sinse i had my baby 7 months before that!!!!! talk about a merry christmas lol.
okay sorry this is so long just thought it would be a great story for everyone to read.
actually, it's weighing you a couple of pounds heavier than you are (I had that scale), so you can subtract 2 or 3 lbs, at least. =)
I have the wieght watchers scale also, which I love!  It does me good to see the water weight now since I wasn't paying attention to that earlier.
mine is a salter-nice scale. we have five styles of it ranging from $30 all the way up to $100.

I went middle of the road. thank goodness for employee discounts. XD
The same thing happen to me today. I got a new scale and it weigh me heavy, and when i say heavy i mean heavy.. It weigh in at 8 pounds heavier than i was. My mother said.. Let me try. SHE said OH Hell NO.. I don't like this one. Then she said. maybe it is right. Then My uncle came and got on it and said.. You and your mother needs to face the facts.. You too are fat.. LOL.. It was late in the day anyway. I am going to try again in the morning. If it says the same thing again. Then i am going to give up on the new one and say with the old one..LOL
