Holiday Bonus!
So I got a $400 bonus today for the holiday's and for me that is huge! I have been with the company only 8 months! and before this job the highest bonus I had ever received was $100.
Super Excited ![]()
what are your bonuses at your company like?
We have a Christmas party next Friday.. now I can afford a new outfit for it! I am only 22 so this is my first real company Christmas party too lol!
That's great!! Congratulations!!!
We don't get bonuses or Christmas parties.. My job sucks. ha
Wow, congratulations! Good to hear you are doing well.
As a temp (going on two years as a temp, but still they won't hire me!) I don't get a bonus. I don't get invited to the holiday parties either, although this year they cancelled it anyway.
No worries, though. I make enough to get by, I like my work, I like the people I work with, and our group went out for lunch this week to celebrate the holidays!![]()
Again, I am glad you hear you are doing well (and apparently so is your company!) and hope you have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
I work for the government, so there are no bonuses :( -sad-
My bonus is a month's salary, but it's taxed 40%. Still, I'm not complaining. We also have a really nice Christmas party that I won't be attending this year. I've been to six of them and I decided to give myself a year off.
Education employee here, so no bonus, before that government, then not-for profit, no bonuses for me.
I've never worked anywhere where I got a "Christmas Bonus." All of my jobs have had a bonus incentive plan, but they are merit based, and usually paid out after the company's fiscal year end.
My company this year gave us $50 for Thanksgiving, and I thought it was a touching sentiment.
i didn't think companies gave bonuses anymore! i've never received a bonus. 400 bucks is sweet! and a MONTH'S salary, #4? jeez louise!!
woohoo congrats! this year i got $500 plus $200 from my boss for a project I was helping with. I was so excited because I have a lot of bills to pay in january. But I was really sad that they cancelled our huge end of the year party because of cost. It is such a nice, fun party but I understand the reason. They are still doing a luncheon for us. I work for a very generous company so I'm happy with anything they want to do for us.
You wanna know what I got? I "Get" to work on Christmas Eve!!! Even though I filled out the appropriate paperwork asking for that day off, it was denied. No reason was given. All my family events take place on Christmas Eve & I will miss EVERY one of them. Merry Freakin Christmas.
i used to get a % of revenue at my former job and i liked it because it was several thousand dollars (even though my boss was sort of cheap and always paid it to us with the first paycheck in january - dude, wtf? - we need it in december!)
now i just get a token $100
but hey, it's nothing i'm entitled to so i'm thankful for it too ![]()
I don't get a bonus for Christmas ... but I get paid a "holiday check" every year at the end of the year.
I work in public safety (911 dispatcher) So I work holidays and weekends, Yes Christmas, Easter. etc.
So at the end of the year I get a check for my days pay X 12 or 15 holidays depending on if it is an election year.
Like to the tune of $1200 after taxes... This is how I buy Christmas Every year.
But this is considered part of my salary not a bonus.
Please mail your bonuses to me.
I dont get a Christmas bonus...I get a summer one! Lol - although not sure if I'll get one in 09...thanks to the recession
Wow, I am actually surprised to hear about other companies not having their big Christmas parties. Our company Christmas party is usually VERY elaborate and costs $10,000. This year, we will not be having one. There are a lot of people laid off and we convinced the owner that it was in poor taste to have this party considering all the lay offs. So, we all have gift certificates (even the laid off employees) for a free turkey from a provisions place nearby (which is nice because I am doing dinner this year and need it) and I THINK the employees who are working will get a bonus. Not sure how much and even if we are definitely getting one but I would rather have that stuff than the Christmas party. The party is fun and all but it is very stressful for the office employees who have to organize everything...right now, its just me and the office manager.
I also love my job, love the people I work with, etc. We are thinking of having pot luck type get together here in the office on Christmas Eve. We don't have to work a full day, I will have my daughter with me so it'll be like a mini-Christmas party where everyone contributes. Should be fun.
I just changed jobs about 8 months ago also, and I got a bonus. I never got one at my old job so I was caught completely off guard. But its nice because we have a family vacation coming up in Feb and I was trying to figure out where all of the money was going to come from.
I'm at a small family business now, they generally give out $200, and in cash so we don't have to pay taxes.
Prior to this I worked for a national Insurance co, no Xmas bonus, we got our "profit" sharing in March, and it was a low as $150 buck and as high as $1800 in the 17 years I worked there.
I've never gotten a Christmas bonus. The only bonuses I ever got (besides Performance Awards) were annual profit-sharing bonuses when I worked at Wal-Mart. Hubby gets one every year though at the annual Christmas party. That's how we always did Christmas for the kids and why we've always been last minute shoppers. ![]()
oh yeah, we did also get a very snazzy christmas party
the food was teh awesome
all sorts of meat on a stick (chicken satay on a stick, black cherry beef kabobs, marinated grilled ahi tuna on a stick, also grilled vegetables on a stick, lots of wonderful shrimp & cocktail sauce) and some tiny corncakes topped with carmelized onions, lump crab meat and a dab of guacamole
i stayed away from the dessert table, but it looked very nice
oh and open bar, of course

That is great!! I usually get $300, but in the building industry it will probalby be nothing this year. We are having a Christmas party. Just workers and spouses at the office with drinks and snacks. Oh well maybe next year.
It's gone... just paid more off on my Credit card lol! oh well.
ahha
