Holiday Motivation Weigh-ins
Holidays are a tough time for me so I'm looking for some extra incentive and motivation to stay on track. There's more food, parties and such so I'd like to ramp up the motivation to make healthy choices (and some encouragement when I don't). I'm suggesting a 3 day a week weigh-in on Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Let's go for November thru February (post Christmas candy sales and Valentines day)
Monday start off/touch point, Wednesday is a good mid-week check and Friday is for a reminder of good choices we will make all weekend.
We came, we saw, we conquered!
All are welcome!!!!! (and can join us at any time)
****The good thing about weighing in 3X a week is it's a good reminder of what we are trying to do, but it also tends to highlight the fluctuations more and that can be hard.******
I'd like to add our TREND on Fridays. (if you don't track your weight on your home page then getting the average using the numbers from a few days back will work) If you're feeling discouraged, this might be a way to see that you are making progress, even when you don't think so....

I'm in! Checking in with you on Mondays has been helpful, but I've been slacking of late. I've only lost 3 pounds in the last 5 weeks. I'd like to get back up to 1-1.5 a week.

Ann, I'm in too! Thanks a lot for the link. This'll definitely help me through the Holiday and post Holiday with Valentine. The way to our hearts is through chocolate, chocolate, and lots more of it!
This'll be my new down plateau!
Talk to you guys then.

Still in the ball park. The thing I have to remember is the more weigh ins I do the more I'll see the fluctuations. I'm focusing on the trend and that's going in the right direction.
Ikiteriru: I agree, the more the merrier!
Anderson66: Way to go on resisting the screaming sugar....

Comments: I don't have a digital scale. Weighing in 3 times a week I might not see much of a difference. But I'm still at 170. Yay!
If it is not too late I would like to join. I think the 3 times a week will keep me motivated throughout the holiday season. Great idea by the way!
I recently gained weight and am at my highest at 140 lbs. I am 5 ft 3 in and am uncomfortable. The weight gain is due to a lot of things mostly my comfort eating but also due to some medication I have been taking. I stopped the meds and am ready to tackle the weight.

Yep, some good hard hiking and climbing seems to work. To top it off, I climbed the most technically difficult climb I've ever climbed without coming off. I'm so jazzed. My body never ceases to surprise me.....
Carrie, how are your running/races going?

Cheers to breaking the plateau! Wahoooo!!!!!
I'm looking for a way to motivate myself into drinking more water because that's a habit I want to add to improve my over all diet.
Anyone up to adding a 'water tag' to this thread? Say one extra 16 ounce glass of water a day (this is water only, not tea, coffee etc) post it and tag the next person?
This can go under on another thread and not clutter this thread...your call, either way works for me :D Just thought I'd throw it out there....
(edit: added to the post)
I actually drink tons of water - it's about all I drink. I bring a reusable bottle to work and just keep refilling it all day long. Tagging sounds like a fun game, though. :)
As for my running - I still haven’t run since my race at the beginning of October. Since my knees were getting really sore at the end of my training (I was taking ibuprofen once a week or so to get to sleep at night) I’ve decided to take the winter off and give them a rest. I plan to start up again in the spring.
I’ve been continuing my yoga and trying to decide what kind of cardio I might want to pick up in the meantime. I went for long walks and did some hiking over the weekend. So I'm still doing SOMEthing, just not as much as I was. There are elliptical machines and treadmills in the fitness room in my building, I just have to venture up to it. I’m hoping to get into a new routine in the next week or so.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
