holiday weight?

later in the year im going on a P&O cruise holiday and im scared i will gain plenty of weight as meals are offered 24/7 and theres buffet style meals  how do i avoid this? i cant control calorie as im not preparing the meals help?!

Hi!

Your right, it is hard to keep an eye on things if your not cooking it yourself, but just try to stick to the simple rules like try have salads for lunch to save your calories untill dinner, dont have pasta or rice every day, generally sauces made with a tomato base are lower in calories than those made with wine or cream so try to choose them, I'm sure being on a ship there will be some lovely fish to choose from, grilled fish is always a healthy option, wine is very high in calories so try spritzers to cut some out and maybe try and do desert every second night.

I'm sure there will be a fitness center on the ship so if you feel as though you've over done it one day do a nice work out and burn it off.

But above all relax and enjoy yourself, you cant do anything on your trip that cant be undone when you get home!

Cruise ships have fitness centers so make sure you make an effort to still exercise while on vacation.. it won't take too much time out of your day. Also, cruise ships have PLENTY of food options including healthy ones so just try to eat a balanced diet and avoid excessive amounts of foods you KNOW are bad for you and that you don't normally include in your calorie intake

i JUST got back from vacay and i was lucky enough to be in charge of the fruits and veggies. that said, aboard your cruise (lucky you!), i would opt for fruit before breakfast, fill up on the good for you stuff. make sure your plate is filled with veggies and allow one splurge a day. so make it worth it! have fun remember its still vacay! have fun!

 I just got back from a cruise and I worried about the same thing before I left. You are right, the buffet style meals are hard to resist, especially since they are free! I made sure my plate was filled with lots of fruits and veggies, but I also allowed myself fatty/sugary treats here and there. It's a vacation... live it up! Don't worry about gaining tons of weight. You should be just fine, as you will be walking a lot when you are at the different ports.
