What's everyone's opinion on the tons of multicolored flashing lights, inflatable characters, reindeer, sleds, etc. that make their appearance at this time of year?

I personally think a few strategically placed strands of white lights is nice (especially in trees), but everything else just looks gaudy and tacky to me. And it seems like it would cost so much money and effort to do it!

Thoughts?

slaughtered snowmen

it's snowing right now

consider it done

 i don't believe you.

We have 4 inches of snow with drifts about ten inches, we are recieving as we speak another 5 or so inches, if it is the wet stuff (and so far it is) then tomorrow after snowblowing i'm in the slaughtered snowman business.

i love when people go overly crazy at christmas. warms my heart. i'm so homesick.

I wish I could experience a white Christmas just once!  We never get snow. It's 75 degrees today.. short sleeve/shorts weather.

I like multi colored Christmas lights.

There are a few houses that go ALL out. There's one in particular that I can think of. I think it has something to do with the death of his wife, but he goes crazy each year. He usually has a theme. One year it was Marilyn Monroe, it was really pretty. I'll admit I like driving by his house, and it's out of my way.

Christmas lights are one of the few things I like about Christmas, but those inflatable things make me angry. I just want to run over and kick them.

I SO know what I'm asking for this christmas...

We put up lovely decorations, very simplistic and classic, just white lights with a garland and a few wreaths. The tacky thing is, no one ever gets around to taking them down until like, february...maybe.
