Holidays are traditionally days people get together and binge eat...

So that's what I did. It was retarded. Nothing I ate was particularly bad for me, jut the sheer quantity was enough to horrifically mess me up...

So once again, I was under 200, and now I'm over again...

It's days like today that make me want to say "forget it" and get lipo...

i did the same thing. the whole weekend was just a terrible combination of home cooking + easter candy + easter meals. i'm just trying not to beat myself up over it. and remember, some of that weight gain is most likely temporary from water retention, sodium, etc.

yep, there is no good advice about over indulging on the holidays, just hopefully you enjoyed yourself, just hop back on the wagon and continue towards your goal.

what would help is to not call anything "off-limits" but to watch your portion sizes, and stop eating when you are full.

i had family over this weekend

which included:

a big bbq with ribs, chicken, potato salad, tons of dessert, chips, beer, soda

a sunday buffet burnch [this one nearly killed me]

lots of chocolates, creamy starches, cakes, cookies, snacks, easy-to-pop-in-my-mouth appetizers

somehow i made it out alive and had a loss today

this is how i did it [and it was really really hard], but i always got a little plate and just put a tiny bite of everything that looks really delicious to me, and for the rest of my food i just ate a normal portion of the healthiest stuff available [salads, lean proteins]

for the buffet i hit the salad bar first and filled up on fruits and veggies and water first and then had a small plate of nibbles

all of my gifts of chocolate went straight to the food bank or re-gifted

a lot of mocktails [tonic water and lemon in a martini glass] in placement of alcohol

and i tried really hard to focus on the festivities.. lots of mingling and socializing.. keeping my mouth busy talking

AND the ultimate way to keep away from the junk food was to hang out with the kids, and play games and sports with them and run around with them [burned lots of calories]

Holidays are a fact (usually pleasant) of life.  We can't put life on hold while we lose weight, so what works best is to have a strategy before the holiday (like thin_girl).  My Easter strategy was as follows:

  1. Made a plan -- first was to be the host, so I could make sure there were plenty of healthful foods available to me.
  2. Gave myself permission to have the holiday treats that are most important to me (wine, peas and potatoes with white sauce, a small dessert).
  3. Even though I still have a lot of weight to lose, I went on "maintenance" for the day (about 2300 calories) rather than "reducing" (about 1800 cal).
  4. Went for a ramble (my term for a walk in nature) with my mother before dinner.
  5. Planned the entire day's intake on Saturday -- it changed a little, but gave me a road map on the day.
  6. Made socializing the main focus of the day, not eating.
  7. Changed my weigh-in day to Tuesday (from Monday) so that the extra sodium won't give me a false high weight for the week.

I won't know til Tuesday how all this worked on the scale, but I had a great time, got my treats, and managed to come in at closer to 2000 calories than the 2300 I had "budgeted".  Most importantly I had fun and felt in control, and had no guilt today, and don't have the usual desire to "punish" myself after a holiday, so it is easy to get right back on track.

getting my house spotless for company was also a great calorie burner

i vacuumed extra hard

cleaned all the windows [ and put a little muscle into it]

pledged and dusted every corner

did lots of laundry

lots of standing up and doing dishes

cleaning up the yard [too early to mow]

washed the cars

did lots of running around and shopping

and made sure that throughout all of this i was snacking on healthy vegetables and fruits and kept hydrated and made healthy sandwiches and egg white omelettes for breakfast to keep me going

I didn't do as bad as I feel like I did... and most of it will probably melt off by tomorrow...

Binging on fruit wasn't a bad idea that I had, so I did, but eating that much of anything is bound to mess up a diet... and it was irritating... Because it seems like there's always some retarded reason to binge eat the day I find out I'm under 200... Ugh...

Damn Binge Eating Disorder.

I loved my binging yesterday.  As long as you are doing great MOST of the time with what you eat what can ONE DAY do? Most of the weight you gained was probably water retention and food in your intestines.

My over the weekend binge has me all messed up!!  I over did it today too!!! When I say binge and over-do I mean like eating 2500-3500 calories of chocolate and crap!!!!!!!  It seems like I'm never gonna make it to my goal!!!  grrr  The scale just goes down up down up.... so frustrating... wish this was easier!

And i never seem to learn from these mistakes!!  Definate binge eating disorder here!

Deleted what I originally said. What I said didn't make sense. >_< Just ignore this.

lipo is better, dieting makes you suffer.  imagine all the food you can't eat, but craving for.  that's ultimate torture for me.  i would give anything to be able to eat everything i like and not gain a single pound.

Thin Girl, Good Job! I like some of your tips!
