Holidays, TTOM and a plateau- KILL ME NOW
if it wasn't bad enough to have cookies and cakes all around, now i have my period, and i haven't lost a pound in about a month (nothing came down after last ttom). I have been steady losing since Feb, 50 lbs total, but nothing since last month(10/29). I haven't changed my eating much- i eat alot of the same things, so i know the cc isn't off. Maybe i just need to get my butt in gear- i really haven't been exercising other than a yoga video now and then, and an occasional walk with the dog. How can i lose that much though without exercise in the first place? I still have another 100 to go- how could i plateau this soon, for this long ( 6 wks) Sorry, just needed to rant! FEED me Seymore!
I know how it feels! My most frustrated time of the year is usually during the Lunar New Year when my relatives make lots and lots of goodies. Christmas affects me too but my family is Chinese, so LNY is worse. D:
Weight loss is quicker in the beginning when you have more to lose. You're moving more mass around so you're burning more cals. As you lose weight your energy requirement is reduced. Not sure what you are currently consuming for cals. but adding in some physical activity will surely help. Congrats on the 50 lbs. and continued success.
First of all congrats on the 50 lbs thats nothing to sneeze at. Plateaus are bound to happen hey happen to the vast majority of us whther we only have 15 pounds to lose or 100. You may need to increase your calorie intake, I know it sounds counterproductive but give it a try for a couple of weeks and see how your body responds. Alos take into consideration the amount of calories you burn had decreased with your weight loss (take a lot less energy to move aroung a lighter body). Start adding some workouts and you shouldn't have any problems.
I say just enjoy the holidays and worry about the weight next week.
well like what everyone already has mentioned, congratulations on your 50 lbs loss :) that's a huge success!
It's important to keep close watch of what you eat...how many calories you are consuming etc. The best way to break a plataeu is to simply eat your maintainance cals for about a week or so...maybe 2..yes this will take you back 2 weeks but think about it...you won't gain, and you will be speeding up your metabolism. After this, go back to your diet...incorporate some exercise if you please...somethign you know you will stick to. If walking is what keeps you from sitting on your butt all day, then walking it is :) walk for an hour every other day, and if you can everyday!...
change your food choices around too...your body has just adjusted to your calorie intake and your activity level which means it wont be letting go of the pounds unless there's a change.
Good luck! and enjoy the holidays!!! they only come ONCE a year...you have the rest of the year to worry about dieting and losing those extra holiday pounds ;)
take care
