At home after work is my weakness

Quote  |  Reply
Hi, I'm at 222 from 229 going for 190. I do fine while I'm at work. When I get home after work is where I have to fight off the temptation to eat more than my allowance of calories.  Anybody else have this problem.?

I used to be like that too :)  I consumed only 10% of my calories intake while I was at work.  I was too busy to eat, even snack!  That's really bad for me because I ended up EAT A LOT when I came home.  I would eat non-stop from 6PM to Midnight :)

Now I try to eat more during the day.  I don't take a lunch break but I would snack all day long to make sure I'm not dying to eat after 6PM!

I also understand what you mean by the 'Temptation'.  My kitchen and fridge are full of those 'temptation' too (for hubby) so nowaday when I'm home, I don't go there anymore!  I don't need to see 3 gallons of ice-cream and a tray of cinnabon buns :)
Oh man, i was the same for a long time.

Try some low cal hot chocolate when you get home. Make it nice and hot so you're just sipping at it instead of wolfing it down and heading for the next thing [thats what i do, its a nightmare. Sometimes i cant even remember what i started eating because i ate so much more afterwards]  That way it'll help make you sleepy by giving you something warm in your belly and will keep you occupied for a while.

Ice lollies [the low cal kind] are good for keeping you occupied for a while but i find hot chocolate better [and its only 40 cals with some brands! :)].

I hope that helps a bit :)
I was very much like that as well, Especially seeing as i quit smoking as well so i was really at a loss for something to do!!

Now i keep myself busy with other stuff, like reading, or going for a bike ride.
I am exactly like that. The only thing that keeps me from blowing my diet when I get home is being busy. But legitimately busy. Sometimes it's difficult to invent things to just because I'm trying not to eat (obviously I don't have kids).
I know it's hard.  Many of us are night eaters.  It's because that's when we kind of start to slow down from our stressful day at work.  Maybe try to eat well during the day so that you'r body isn't quite so hungry at night?
I agree with getting and staying busy!!!  What helps me the most is getting my car and going somewhere.  I love to shop, but even if I am not buying anything, just walking around a mall for a few hours, a big book store, department store, anything.  Time really flies when I do this and before I know it, it's nighttime!!  I also love to take drives, however I spend a lot of money when I do that since a fill-up is $75, lol...but whatever keeps me occupied!!
I would find something to do as the others suggest.  Something to keep you active but if you are really tired and do not want to do anything just read.  I love to read but do not have time sometimes.  If you are like me though, sometimes I just want to set in front of the tv and relax for an hour.  Instead I would find something else to do, talk to a friend on the phone, play a board game, visit with a friend.  The television has too many commericials with food in them.   Being active is the best for you but I know there are days you just are too tired after supper and doing a few things that you have to around the house.  Keep your mind busy  when this happens, maganzine, word puzzles, something.
Oh, absolutely!  It's not the best solution but I learned that if I push back breakfast and lunch I'm not as hungry right after work.
Have a low cal snack (apple or 100 cal pack) on the way home.  And if you have a crock pot, have a healthy dinner ready when you get home.
