homemade food bars?

i am trying to save money and make my own homemade bars, like lara bars or luna bars. i was trying to look up recipes but couldnt really find anything. does anyone have any?

I LOVE making my own Larabars!:) All you need is a food processor, some dried fruits, seeds and nuts, and a smidge of patience. It is basically a game of frail and error depending on the moisture content of your ingredients, which will vary each time. For the most part, combining 1/2 dried fruits or nut butters (moister foods) and 1/2 nuts, seeds, or powders such as cocoa is your best bet. The only things that you need to do in order to make the bars is to combine the ingredients and whirr them around in the FP! It does take a bit of experimenting to determine which formulation you enjoy, but it's actually a pretty fun process--and you can create flavors that Lara doesn't offer yet!:)

I'll post one of my favorite bar combinations below. Also, Zebulancherry has said in previous posts like yours that she has managed to recreate many of the Larabar flavors, so maybe you could PM her about them!

PB & J "Lara" Bars

Ingredients:

8 oz dried, pitted, chopped dates

4 oz figs

4 oz peanut butter

A pinch of cinnamon

A pinch of salt

Directions:

Just throw all of the ingredients into a food processor and whirr them around until they ingredients form a non-sticky paste. If sticky, as a sprinkling of a dry or powdery ingredient (such as coconut flakes or flax seed meal) and mix that in. Once they are of a good consistancy, shape the paste into 1 to 2 oz bars.

I make these High Fibre Muesli Bars...  once cooled and cut up they freeze really well.
