Is honey "healthier" than sugar?
I just made some granola bars and the recipe called for honey. I looked on the jug of honey and it is 130 calories per tablespoon??? Way more than sugar. (Although the calorie count food finder has honey listed at 64 calories per tablespoon *headscratch*...but that's another post ;).
Are there health benefits to using honey versus sugar?
Sounds like you have some pretty intense honey! I have 2 kinds in my pantry and they both say 60 cal. per tbsp.
As for being heathier, I always thought you could use less honey if you were using it to replace sugar, but I could be toally making that up!;)
Sarahjo36 is correct. You can use a lot less honey than you do sugar. I typically replace 1 cup of sugar with 2 tbsp's Honey. But some people prefer 1/2 cup honey for 1 cup sugar or even equal cup for cup
Hmmmm...I wonder if the label is wrong??? Hopefully ;). It's organic, it should be healthy, right~LOL. The recipe called for 3/4 cup honey, I only used 1/2...the granola bars are *plenty* sweet. Maybe I'll use less next time, or look for a different brand.
Anyone know if (other than the calories) honey would be better for you than sugar -or vice versa?
i'm an idiot..... I JUST LOOKED AGAIN....YUP, 60 CALORIES PER TABLESPOON (130 SERVINGS PER BOTTLE.
*sorry for any honey confusion, LOL*

Right... So, organic butter would be healthy then? :-) Words like "organic" and "natural" get thrown around to convince people they're making healthy choices. Sometimes it's a fair assessment, but other times it's just a sales pitch to keep the health food store in business.
