Honeycrisp apples - holy canoli!
These apples are unbelievable and even though they're more expensive than other varieties, try them. They're only available for about 3-4 weeks a year and when they are, they'll substitute for dessert anytime.
SOOOO true!! I jsut found out about these apples and I'm not a huge apple fan at all!! These are a different story. Try them!!! They taste like apples with an extra kick lol
They're my favorite! I discovered them last year, and I got my first one of this season yesterday! It was small and organic and so sweet and good! ^^ <3
I had my first Honey Crisp apple last week. I went back to the grocers and bought more. Having one for lunch now.
I also discovered Cornation Grapes. Like Honey Crisp apples they are only available for a few weeks of they year. (NOW) They are also seriously delicious.

Oh yes! I too just discovered them a couple of weeks ago, and they are third on my all time favorites list now! Yum!
Yes, I love them so crunchy and sweet. Pink Lady is another really good one that is available for a longer time.
MMM
I am lucky enough to live in the Niagara region where we grow some of these new apples...
They are delish!
Chels, are you in Ontario? I was introduced to Honeycrisps last week while in Wisconsin but I've not been able to find them here in Ontario.
They are indeed delicious!
I am in Ontario-yes mygr8or
My mother actually bought them from a local farmer, however, in St. Catharines (where I live) you can get them from the Real Canadian Superstore- as they buy local produce!
I hear they are fabulous to bake with as they keep their shape nicely, and are a tiny bit tart!
MMMMM bake them in the oven with a mix of splenda/cinnamon, and a TINY but of low fat butter and/or brown sugar...
I'm in Oshawa - I'll try our local Canadian Superstore tomorrow - there's one near my gym.
Can't wait to try them baked. Thanks!

I cannot believe there are even people who will flame about apples. Oh, the internets!
I'm in Niagara too - Port Robinson to be exact (work in St. Catharines), and now I am VERY excited to hit the superstore tomorrow!! :D
Paid $18.00 for a bag of apples but well worth the money! Yum!
It is funny that this topic showed up. I just bought some Honey Crisp apples at the store last night. They didn't have any golden delicious or Fuji, so I just got these, not knowing anything about them. They looked good though. I just ate one and it was DELICIOUS! I love a crisp sweet apple, and this was exactly that.
YUMMY!
I agree! The other night I had one for dessert by dicing it up, adding some cinnamon and sweetner and a few sprays of I can't belive it's not butter AND a crumbled up granola bar... OMG, it was like apple crisp!
I totally agree im a fruit fanatic and i loveddddddd these!! they are great to just grab one and take it for a quick breakfast.
I just tried these Honey Crisps last week for the first time and I am in love with them. I picked up a Gala from home yesterday thinking it was a Honey Crisp and it nearly ruined my day. I love all apples but Honey Crisps take the cake!!
They are good! I get them from a local orchard so they are really fresh and keep just a little longer in the refrigerator. I also like the ginger gold apples, another new variety.
yes, those apples RULE! Here's a little tid bit. They were developed by the University of Minnesota!
