I know it sounds crazy but I am having THE BEST time right now! I am trying things I've never tried and doing things I've never done. I feel strong and capable. Is it a coincidence that I found this website, a new active hobby, a gym that I love, and that I've never felt more motivated all at the same time??? I think not! Now don't call me a Pollyanna yet. I have struggled with this for 20 years. I know what it feels like to give something a half-hearted start or to really think I'm in it only to find out at the first cookie that I pass that I'm not. It is like someone lit a fire under my amply padded a**. And while I might only be in a honeymoon phase, I am ready for the lifetime commitment that I am starting here.
I like your analogy of being in the "honeymoon phase". I started CC in May and felt the same way you do now. I guess I'm in the next phase where there's some arguing to work out the kinks in the (food) relationship and some smooth sailing where everything is going good! Umm.. what's that stage called?
Congratulations for getting started, it looks like you'll do fine!
I know exactly how you feel. It is such an empowering feeling to take control of your life and do positive things with it. Do not discount how you feel. Do realize that as time goes on, you may hit a few bumps (I have been playing with the same 3 pounds for about 2 weeks now, and it is frustrating!) but allow room to forgive yourself and keep going. Everything that you do right will pay off in the end. Good for you and keep it up!
Becky: I am happy for you. so what is your new active hoppy? :) if you don't mind me asking.
Hmmm.... so how long does the Honeymoon Phase last? We've been married 4.5 years and we're STILL in ours!
=^..^= MOLLY
LOL what a relief!
I was so ready to read a post about someone going crazy trying to count calories while on their honeymoon.
but this was so much nicer to read! it's nice to hear from people who are enthusiastic and happy. It's contagious!
My new hobby is crazy - for me anyway - I am taking Kung Fu! I am also really getting into swimming and I like to play basketball with my daughter. In the past, I NEVER would have tried a physical activity that had a very high potential of making me look like an idiot. But, I'm doing this! I have never been athletic so it's not like I have that experience to lean on. My goal is to be in shape enough by the spring to join a softball team.
I think I'm doing a pretty great job on my workouts and what is most unusual for me, and why I started this post, is that I am ENJOYING them! Really! I never used to enjoy working out! I would hear people say that once you get into your workout you're so glad you're there and how after your workout you felt so much energy...not me. I hated getting ready for the workout, hated it while I was doing it, hated it after I did it. So to be looking forward top the gym is absolutely a new place for me.
I love martial arts for a workout. The only person that you're competing against is yourself.
