How bad are these little cakes for you? I have a box of the golden ones w/ chocolate frosting and they taste remarkab;ly like twinkies, which are disgustingly laden with preservatives and freaky chemicals. So, just wondering, although these cakes are low cal and low fat, are they any better than eating the full-fat processed crap?

did you read the ingredient list? i haven't seen them.
Not sure but my wife and daughter like them. I eat sometimes if I get a sweet urge. IMHO I would rather have a shake with fruit and milk. did you ever have the muffins?? Man was I pissed when I opened the pack and there were 2 little muffins in there!!! Not even worth the effort !
heh! 3 mini bites. grrrr.
never thought i could fall for a smoothie. as girly as it sounds, much more refreshing, nutritious and filling.

I doubt that the 100 cal. cupcakes are any better for you than their larger companions. I think most of these 100 cal packs just limit the portion sizes.
They're great to satisfy little cravings, but I wouldn't make them a major staple in your diet.

Yeah, the ingredient list doesn't give me much hope-- it's about a mile long. Best to take pixieninja's advice and avoid eating them regularly.
I love twinkies I wish had one right now, I went to the store I seen some and wanted to get some But my husband said no instead he goes to the frozen section and got a frnch silk pie that is sittin gmy fridge instead I ate a rice cake, he's a butthead, but I still love him
They're good to kill a craving for something worse, lol. At least they're a sane portion size.
I'm not sure about the nutritional content of the 100 calorie packs but I buy them. I don't eat one everyday but I know that I'm gonna have a craving for something sweet and having those is good so that I don't go over the deep end on calories. It's great for portion control!
I love the 100 cal pack chocolate cupcakes, so I did a quick analysis of whether I would be better off eating the regular ones or if these really are better per gram. And here's what I found:
- as far as ingredients (if the label is accurate) the only real difference is that the lowcal ones use whole eggs to add volume
- per gram of cupcake you get less of the following when you eat the lowcal kind: calories, calories from fat, total fat, sodium, sugar
- per gram of cupcake your get the same regardless of which you eat: sat fat, trans fat, total carbs
- per gram of cupcake you get more of the following when you eat the low cal kind: cholesterol (because of the whole eggs), fiber, and protein (again because of the eggs
So, I guess the real benefit is the portion control of the 100 cal versus the standard 181 cal cupcake. Of course, if you have to choose between eating one regular cupcake or two 100 cal packs, might as well eat the regular cupcake. The 5 g of fiber for the low cal kind is definitely a plus if you're trying to get more fiber in your diet.

I don't think they taste all that good myself and it does bug me that the things are so tiny.
I like the weight watchers chocolate cakes better and they're only 80 cals. All those treats are somewhat tricky for me because I sometimes eat 2 or 3 a day and that is not so great. I buy them now and then and try not to have a big supply.
