I bought a pot of Houmous today.
It says that 50g has 97 calories (one quarter of the pot) . So im gonna assume a teaspoon is roughly 50 cals.
Anyone know what i should eat it with?
What should i dip in it that is low-cal? or, should i put it in a sandwich?

Hummus is amazing. I would assume that 50 grams is closer to 2 tbsp. Even that is high for hummus. All the brands I buy are approx. 70 calories for 2 tbsp. (6 tsp)
I really like hummus with everything. it can be great on the side of a salad. The classic move is to eat it with pita. I really like it as a vegetable dip - just dip carrots, celery, cucumbers, or really anything.
Hummus is also really good in turkey sandwiches. When I ate meat that was a total protein feast.
Good luck with the hummus. I hope you enjoy it.

I love to eat hummus, and the nutrition info on the contain I buy says 90 calories is about 2 Tablespoons.... you can eat more than a teaspoonful!!!
Well, the one i bought today was from a healthy living range, and it was the lowest cal one there.
So i should assume that 1 tablespoon full is about 50 cals?
Im vegetarian, but i may try it with quorn slices =D

It a bean dip, so any sort of veggies as mentioned above, especially red peppers, baby carrots, and cucumber sticks. I love to dip warm pita bread triangles into it, and it's really good in wraps too.
i love hummus spread on rice crackers as a snack. mmmm
toasted Pita bread .. 0 fat and tastes great ...
Today I had basil hummus on red bell pepper strips for an afternoon snack. Yum. It was 50 cals per tablespoon.
Im planning to try it tommorow in a whole grain sandiwch with quorn chicken style slices!
sound good?

At first I thought that said "humorus" -- I was expecting to find a funny joke or story inside. haha Yeah, I like hummus too. I actually ate mine on tortilla chips. Delish!
is 'hummus' the american spelling?
Funny,
I had a craving for hummus today and just made some before sitting down and seeing this thread.
I make my own, with 2 tbs of tahini, 1 can of chick peas, 1 tbs chopped garlic, 1 tsp olive oil, lots of lemon juice and some strips of sundried tomatos!! gives lots of servings about 20!
Yumm!!
I eat it as a dip, with crudites (fancy for small bite sized veg) mentioned in other posts. It take less than five mins to make just pop all the ingredients in a blender and its done!
Will be having some as a snack later:-)

I've eaten it in many, many varieties.
I really like it on a whole wheat bagel with cucumbers, alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes and a pickle on the side. You could use low-cal, high fiber bread instead of the bagel for a lower calorie, lower carb meal... Or just wrap it all in lettuce instead of bread! http://www.calorie-count.com/recipe/23593.htm l
There are many different flavors and can be a good snack with some low-cal crackers, tortillas or just with lettuce. I like it with these sesame crackers I've bought at trader joes and some red leaf lettuce. I put the hummus on the cracker and then put a piece of lettuce on top. Yummmmmm...
Now I want hummus!

IMO, very few things are as yummy as roasted red pepper hummus with cucumber and sprouts.
ETA: What exactly is quorn? I looked it up, and it sounds like it's something like tofu, but the website says it's also soy-free.

Quorn is an egg-based meat replacement product.
I was trying to go veg for a while, but am allergic to soy, so it was a great find for me.

Seriously, the best thing with hummous is raw mushrooms. I swear, it tastes like peanut butter!
