Thought this article about women's figures was interesting: Best Female Figure Not an Hourglass

Fellow hourglasses, do you /like/ your curves?  Non-hourglasses -- do /you/ like your shape?

i'm 34-24.5?-34 and i like it.. my waist seems to fluctuate between 24 and 25 and it's easy to look nice in a lot of the clothes i like. i don't have big boobs.. a B cup.. i kinda wish i did. my back is just wide? and i like my hips, because they also make finding jeans easy..  and i work to keep my bum! haha.

anyways, most of the young girls i know have hourglass measurements.. i didn't think it was so uncommon. but older women rarely have hourglass shapes.. atleast the ones i've seen. either way YOU GOTTA FLAUNT WHAT YOU GOT AND BE HAPPY Smile

That Wikipedia article was interesting.  Somehow I had the idea that "apple" meant "big stomach, small boobs, small butt and hips" so that's what I always called myself, but after seeing that, apple is the body shape farthest from mine!  Haha.  I had to go measure myself after this and it seems that I'm a pear.  I've always been fat but lacking in boobs so goodness only knows what I would look like if I lost weight, probably even more of a pear worse pear than ever.  Although, to be honest I'm not sure I'm measuring my waist at the correct spot; I've looked at multiple websites and they don't agree on where to measure...

Haha, yeah, the term 'apple' isn't really a straightforward one. I guess you're supposed to visualize more of a red delicious than a granny smith xD I think it varies greatly between men and women as well - if someone refers to a man as being 'apple shaped', they mean he has a big gut. If a woman has an apple shape, it means that she's more top-heavy.

I was always told that you should measure your waist at its smallest point - usually a two or three inches above your bellybutton =)

As far as I know, I'm plagued by the dreaded apple shape: 39-29-37

I feel so alone.

As much as I've worked and strived for one, I've never found hourglass figures to be all that attractive on other women; I think that pears are a hundred times more appealing. I would happily trade my F-cups for lovely, voluptuous hips, or at least something resembling a butt =(

I'm an apple too I believe. 36-28-37 for me, but I think the inches for the hip measurement must come from my butt 'cause my hips are pretty narrow -.-

I actually would want to be a pear the least, it's easier to hide my belly than a wide backside and thick legs.

There is all different type of hourglass any height any weight can have a hourglass figure aslong as your bust size matches your hip size and your waist is 9 to 10 inches smaller then your a hourglass. Im a smaller hourglass 5'7 1/2 135 pounds 34.24.34 I dont have big breast b cup here but, a lot of ppl think your bust and your hips have to be big to be a hourglass not true. Aslong as your bust and hips add up to the same and your 9 to 10 inches smaller your good.

I am definitely a cyllinder.  Some site told me I was apple-shaped (but I'm thin enough for it to not be obvious).  I'd do my measurements but I'm not sure how to measure shoulder width.

I kind of wish I had a smaller waist.  I think it looks nice.  But it's just... nonexistant on me, xD

I'm definitely a pear. If only I had big ta tas then I would be an hourglass. Ha Ha. Totally jealous of women who have the hourglass shape.

What are people called who are top heavy, small waist and no ass/hips? Upside down pear? I mean, is there a name for it?

Hm, my measurements are 35-26-36.  That seems like an hourglass, but someone above said that they bust and hip measurements have to be the same.  I've never really understood this whole classification thing. Plus, I'm 5'10", so even if I am an hourglass, I'm a stretched-our hourglass and it doesn't have the striking effect like it does on shorter people.

In any case, I think the hourglass shape is nice, but there is no one shape that is superior to the others, imo.

um wtf exactly was the actual helpful point in that article anyway, i did like the comments down below it though.

I think this shape is called a triangle!

Myself, I think I am a pear naturally but more like a melon at the moment!
