36 hours of no/little sleep..how to eat

Quote  |  Reply

I am doing a 36 hour stay awake marathon..IUDM.. see www.iudm.org....

Anyway, how should I eat/count calories during this time. I have a two hour sleeping break from 2-4am tonight and tomorrow night i have a four hour break from 8pm-4am....any ideas?? I dont want this to totally throw me off and screw up my body.

Eat as much as you need to get through the ordeal.  If you're awake longer you'll need more energy than if you were asleep.  Try to avoid the sugary foods that will become so appealing as an energy boost but tuck down plenty of complex carbohydrates  - oatmeal, bananas, wholemeal pasta - to keep you going.  Fluids are vital... dehydration makes fatigue worse.  If you're drinking a lot of coffee to stay awake match every cup with a glass of water so you don't get a massive head-ache from dehydration the next day.  It won't 'screw up' your body to do this for 36 hours, whatever happens.
