2 hours running (that's not a typo!)

Woo hoo!  This morning I ran for 2 hours straight!!!!  And I only got stuck at traffic lights for *maybe* 10 seconds total, for some reason they were all green for me today.  And so far I feel really good still!!

Grand total running 8.75 miles!  My first 3.95 miles running I did at a pace of 12:54min/mile, the last 4.8 was at 14:22min/mile.  So I definitely slowed down, but it seems for me after an hour of running my heart rate won't stay out of the 170's, and I have to go slower and slower to keep it at a reasonable level.  I'd prefer to stay out of the 170's, but I *really* want to stay out of the 180's.  My average was 163, maxed at 181 right at the very end when I kicked it up a bit to get to a street marker right at the 2 hour mark.

With my warm up and cool down walk, I went 9.7 miles total - and burned 1433 calories according to my HRM!!

Woo hoo!  For what it's worth, my previous best was 1 hour 45 minutes for 7.4 miles.

That's absolutely amazing!!!!   Way to go Jenn!!  You have become an amazing runner!
Thats amazing but I am just wondering how do you manage to eat 1433 calories extra after the run?  I used to go for long bike rides when I was trying to lose weight but I found once I hit maintenence level I needed to cut back on all the biking I was doing because I would burn somewhere around 1500-2000 calories. I could not eat enough to maintain my current weight becuase thats 4,000+ calories needed to maintain my weight on long bikes rides adding in my BMR.   Do you just eat lots of carbs like pasta and rice?
Hey terrier!  Well, for the weight and height I am now, based on being sedentary the rest of the day I'll still only burn just under 3000 cals today.  I'm trying to lose weight now, not maintain, so I really only need to eat around 2000.  And even if I'm less than that, I only do one long run a week and figure that if I have more than a 1000 calorie deficit, it evens out with some of the other days that I have less than 500.   :)
woohoo!!! you rock! running just feels so good after you get started! did you use a pedometer to measure your distance and time? if so, what kind? i'm looking for a good one. are you training for anything?
wow...kudos to you..I get all sick and wheezy after 30 mins!!  lol  ;)
sorry for swearing but FUCK!

...

I'm still awe-struck, by the way. That's just so... awesome!!
Very inspiring! Gratz!!
If you can run for 2 hours, I should definately be able to jog for 25 minutes... now to get off my lazy arse...
Thanks everyone!  :)  I still feel good today, too.  Little stiff, but no more than you expect to be the morning after a good workout.  I'm surprised myself at the progress, I guess it just goes to show when they tell you to slow down as a new runner, it really does work to build endurance.  :)

tinytot - I would love to get a GPS thing someday so I can measure trails, but for now I just use www.runningmap.com or www.mapmyrun.com.
Oh Wow!! You are amazing!! I wish I could run that long!! (I tire out after 45 min)  Keep running like that and you could enter a half marathon or something!
Wow! That is a LONG time to have your heart rate up there! Think of all the good carbs/protein you can have to compensate for those 1400 calories! How long have you been running?

bill (wishes his body could handle that long of a run!)
*Wishes the same thing*
my GOD how do you keep it up?!?! :D

like everyone's saying, that's very amazing

i wish i had the stamina!
Thanks again all.  *blushes*

Bill - on 5/31 I posted in this forum because I was thrilled that I ran 8 minutes straight.  :)  I consider that day to be the day I started running, since it's the first day I really tried.  I think the reason I've had such great progress with my endurance is because I run so slowly.  I'm getting faster - 8 weeks ago my top speed for a 5k was 43 minutes, today it was 37:30.  I'm really just concentrating on getting the mileage in for now, I figure the speed will come with time.  :)
