How many hours per week do you devote to exercise?
I am an avid reader of Shape magazine, and the "success stories" usually show that the women in there who have lost a lot of weight exercise on average 7-9 hours per week. My question is this - for the C-C folks, how many hours per week do you devote to exercise? I need to lose 75 lbs +/- and I am wondering about how much exercise I need to do. I don't belong to a gym, so my current exercise is limited to anything I can do at home with minimal tools. Any advice would be helpful.
5-6 hours a week. 45-60 min a day, mon-sat

I'm 5x a week for 45 minutes a day of INTENSE excersise!!! I burn between 700-900 calories in my 45 minutes!
I exercise an hour to an hour and a half a day six days a week and sometimes seven days if I am feeling motivated enough.
7.5 hours if I take one day off, 9 hours if I don't.
This is up from 4-5 hours per week in the past and seems to be making a huge difference in my body and energy and mood.

I go typically about 30min of cardio every morning then I try to do weights twice a week which would be an additional hour trip each time. Some weeks I do extra cardio after work if I know I need more calories burned off...

30 minutes cardio 4 days a week=2 hours
30 minutes weights twice a week= 1hour
plus i walk my dog probably 30-45 minutes a day total

Running: 3 times/week: 2.5 - 3 hrs, give or take
Weights: 3 times/week: 90 - 100 minutes total
X-training (usually elliptical): 30 min. twice a week
Step class: 75 min
So I guess that adds up to around 650 min, or 10 hours and change. Of course, each week changes depending on kids, illness, length of runs, etc. Last week, my kids were sick and I probably totalled closer to 7.5 hours.

Out of curiosity I just did the math based on the minutes I logged in my activity log. In September I averaged 6.3 hours a week, in October it was 5.3 hours a week. I knew I had backed off a bit in October when the weather got colder and I started running less outside, more on the treadmill. Interesting to see it averaged an hour difference like that!
Here is my breakdown:
Cardio - 40 minutes x 6 days a week = 4 hours
Weights - 20 minutes x 3 days a week = 1 hour
This does not count all the walking I do (going to class), or the flights of stairs I climb everyday (I live on the third floor, and always take the stairs).

I don't really go on a consistent, this-many-minutes-per-week basis. I go about 2-4 days per week, depending on how much work I have. Usually when I go, I spend about 30-40 minutes on the machines. I also do a lot of walking day-to-day because of classes and stuff... always take the stairs, et cetera.
I just started. I have been walking for 30 min every day, and now I exersize about 3-7 days a week... Yoga every day, and cardio 3 days a week.
ok, here's another question. Can/Should I actually count walking the dog as exercise? I spend 90 to 120 minutes a day walking my little Captain Duke, for the most part they are broken into 45 minute brisk walk and up and down steep hills, so I know my metabolism gets ramped up. I can feel the "heat" for about another hour or so after I get home.
I just don't have a lot of extra time after the dog walks to devote to other exercise. I do spend time doing floor-type exercies for the abs, back, arms about 3 times a week. Your thoughts?

Usually 6 days a week, 1.5 to 2 hours a day. That makes for 9-10 hours a week.

I would totally count walking the dog. The calorie counter even offers things like brushing your teeth lol. Everything you do burns calories. It's just that some things burn more than others.
I think that walking every day, and doing floor work as well, sounds really good. Plus, you can wear weights on your wrists and power walk the dog to get a serious workout.

45 mins every two days thats.. um... *whips out calculator* about three hours...
I really need to step mine up...i've actually gained weight in the past month... but my week looks like this right now:

I do 60 minutes elliptical Mon/Wed / Friday and 60 min weights on Mon / Wed. Tues / Thur is one hour cardio class and Sat and Sunday I walk/ or do elliptical for at least 90 minutes so its averages 9 hours a a week. I shoot for 90 minutes a day on average or 2500 min a month.
Seashel - walking the dog is great excercise and I read a study once that showed dog walking actually burns more calories than just walking. The study suggested that even people who don't have dogs can benefit by borrowing their neighbors.

Hey, for me I do between 10-20 hours depending on whats happening. I'm really hard out into running, walking, biking even if its on the stationary one and rope skipping. It's cool I can eat anything...though I tend to stick to the healthy stuff apart from the fact I have a weakness for ice cream and donuts sometimes. My number one cracing ever though is cereal. I can have up to 6 bowls a day!!! But yeah thats it for me!
