Howdy Everyone ...I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone...I'm Kitty from West Virginia...I joined because I found this site through a search engine and it just seemed to be very interesting and helpful to me when I was looking it over...People helping others is a very good idea and most of the time you don't see that anymore so I'm glad I stumbled across this site. My story is this I have been married for almost 10 years now and I have 4 children and 1 stepdaughter. I have come to realize that i want to be healthy for my children which mean the world to me and lately I've noticed that I get very tired very easily when wrestling with them..lol but when I got pregant at the age of 17 I was 145 lbs and now after after 4 children I have seriously put on alot of extra weight (247 lbs right now) mostly due to the reason that which every pregancy I had gestional diabetes so i kinda gained double or more then a pregant woman is suppose to gain and it just got rough. I was told after my last child that I had type 2 diabetes and after a year I go to get it checked and am told i know longer have it...how it happened I don't know but it shocked me and I had to get a second opinion..lol it it was true so I'm glad that problem is gone for me but now I need to work on my weight to get it back down. Does anyone have any ideas for me that can help me lose about 2 lbs a week. Nice meeting all of you and in time hopefully I'll be up to date with all of you..lol .

Hey kitty, and welcome.  Use the tools on the website- very helpful to determine how much calories (on average) to consume. Just use those kids as motivation to keep at it.  We all have crappy days- i ate a piece of cake, screw it, let's finish off the pan! Just get back at it the next day. I am glad the diabetes thing was a mistake, but consider it being thrown a lifeline- it is put simply, a "sucky disease" - do anything you can to avoid it. Example- If the cc website states for your age, weight and activity level that you burn 2200 cal a day, eat around 1500- that creates a 700 cal deficit each day x7=4900- almost a pound and a 1/2 a week. Don't try for the 1200 a day thing, you lose lots of weight at first, then crash and burn. (tried it, My kids don't recommend it-cranky!!) Take some time to find activites that You enjoy- if you like it, you will be more motivated to stay with it- if ya don't like to jog..don't do it! I've been at this about 15 months and have lost 80- have more to go, but it is a lifestyle- not a diet-that is a four letter word! You can do it, and again HI!

Hi there and welcome!  I grew up in the Mountain State and my folks live in Charleston.

I second kawnd11, use the tools on the site to find out how many calories you should eat to lose and log everything on here to keep track.  There is a lot of support here.

Howdy y'all just wanted to say thanks for  both of your responses and I will remember everything both of you said and it's nice meeting both of you. I know it will take alot of work to get to where i wanna go and i know it will take time so again thanks for both of your advice i will use the tools on the site and hope it will work for me... no wait...no hoping..lol I know it will work for me cause it's time that i start doing something about my weight and eating habits and yep my kids will be my motivation especially my oldest he's 13 yrs old and weighs more then me at 281 lbs  so I think I will motivate my mind and time on things he likes to do to that I know will help both of us lose weight we need to and get in better shape . Again Thanks for the advice it was greatly appreciated.

Wiskey lullaby... is that from the song? When I saw the "ya'll" I knew we had another Southerner. I'm in Texas.   I can't really add to what the others have said.  They are right.  Just stick with it and you will do fine.  When I log my foods and put a little effort into exercise, it works.  If I would put a bit more effort into activity, I am sure I would be better.  That is my downfall.  I am also more cognizant of my weight since I had my daughter.  She's 10 now and I would like to be better able to keep up with her.  Your kids can be great motivators.  My husband was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes... that has meant some positive changes for us both.  Ironically, he is the active one and he is not overweight.  Go figure, huh?  I have found a lot of great ideas and support... not just about food etc. on this site.  Hope you do too!  Welcome!

lol Howdy artmaven66 and yes that's from the song...I am in love with that song I just think it says so much in it kinda like a real life thing..lol call me crazy and yep most people laugh at my language when I speak ..lol i went to TN 2 weeks ago and everytime i walked in a store they asked me to speak again...i was like what and they said I really actually sounded like a hick said they never heard anyone speak like that..I figured in Tn they'd hear it everyday..lol oh well but it's cool. Thanks for the advice i have been losing 1-2 a week if i can just keep it up and that's actually drinking and eating my favorite things i just try to do more activites to  burn those calories back off..But so far it's going great and hopefully I can keep it up so thanks for the support that goes for all of you. I really appreciate the help and advice it's handy indeed. Reckon i'd better go now but hey y'all add me and keep in touch alrighty . Again thanks !!!!!!

Forgot to add art that I don't really do that much activities either...Mine are mostly little things here and there like my steps for instance I walk by them like 20 times again in my house so each time I do i'll stop and do like 10 step ups on them it adds up in the end or if i'm walking through the house I don't walk..I'll usually dance or move my hips like a hula girl...lol it actually kinda builds up my confidence to because i'm moving them like i do..lol but it's working. I feel better then I have in the last 5 years and I have been losing 1-2 lbs a week and still eating what I love to eat and trust me i'm a picky eater...I hate alot of foods and I love my junk food so I still snack more then I should but I am tryin to cut back on that it might make me loose even more and then i was always told that a persons body needs at least 8 glasses of water a day so I drink that and for every can of soda i drink i drink an extra glass of water with it and I know what you mean about the type 2 diabetes thing with your husband that is wierd. I was always told to watch my weight that overweight people are the ones that get type 2 diabetes but my cousin she also had it and she's a very active person and only weighs 125 lbs so that kinda shocked me as well I guess sometimes a person never really knows sometimes I think doctors are even crazy..lol
