how's it going?
how's everyone doing? have you kept up your sugar-free pledge? (or have you started yet?
)
For me, it had been going terribly.
Up until Monday, when I joioned in on works birthday cake and felt horribly sick since. Only had one little truffle since.
Afraid I am tempted by the numerous chocolate bars work have put out now, but, I know I feel much better without it. I have some dried fruit in my drawer - that will do me nicely.
How about everyone else>?
hope things starting going bettter for u. my advicei is stick to the dried fruit!!!
ya, i hadn't had sugar for three weeks and started eating a little because i was sick and couldn't stomach much "good" food aka fruits and veg.....thought i would faint because i couldnt eat. well a few minutes ago i had some M&Ms (ok, ALOT of them lol) and now i feel my heart pumping, i am hyper, feel sick in general.....life without sugar really is better. once you've stopped for a while, you won't even like the taste of it anymore. at least i dont. just ate the M&Ms because i was hungry ad there was nothing else i could eat..
so the moral of the story is: once youve gotten used to life without sugar, you won't want to go back and you'll look at those chocolate bars at work as vile-tasting poison!
oh wait , i misread your post. i think you just described the same thing i did. lol, way to go. isn't it crazy that sugar can become disgusting when it used to be so luscious!?
It's not going well for me either! I never would have thought that I was addicted to sugar, but I can't seem to go a day without any. It's probably because of the enormous candy section I pass by 20 times a day at work. I think I went one day without any treats, but that was an accident. ![]()
Do you guys avoid sweet things in general, or just added sugar? Do you avoid things that have a sugar substitute, too? I really don't think I rely on sugar, but I always get an afternoon craving for chocolate when I'm at work. ![]()
i replace sugar with fruit. it works!!! i went 20 days without sugar until i started eating it again (on purpose) yesterday. didn't miss it at all!! just started to eat it bc it the holidays and people expect it. stock up on oranges, bananas, apples.....whatever you like and when you want something sweet, eat FRUIT.
there is a great thread from a few days ago called "what is your fave not so normal fruit?" . . . search in the forums. there were a tons of replies.
i don't use sugar substitutes, but maintly that s because i dont like the taste of them..... i've heard it's a bad idea to use them though when you give up sugar. not sure why.

For me, if it has refined sugar, I do not eat it as a general rule. I will sweeten some stuff with honey or molasses. For the most part, I try not to sweeten anything. I will grab a piece of fruit also if I have a hankering for a sweet.
If I do have any sugar, it is because I have decided ahead of time to have it. I try to limit myself to only special occasions. With the holiday season being here, it has been a little more liberal due to social gatherings. However, even in social situations, I still limit myself.
One thing you wouldn't expect to have refined sugar is salsa. I was at the grocery store and was reading the label, found that it had high fructose corn syrup in it and I put it back on the shelf!
I also avoid artificial sweeteners as well. I took my cue from the ants in Florida. You could put a pile of sugar next to a pile of sweet and low, the ants would come and eat the sugar and leave the sweet and low. I figured maybe it wasn't such a good idea to put that chemical soup in my body. If it wasn't good enough for the ants, why should it be any good for me?
sweet 'n low is really bad for your liver. It takes a lot of energy to sive this stuff out of your body again. It is just not natural so it is seen as a poison by your body.
