HR and Heart murmur
I was just wondering, does my RHR and heart rate in general affect my HRM, seeing as i have a mild heart murmur? (Phase 1)
I was confused at to weather it may fudge the numbers a bit, making me think im burning more cals when im working, that i really am.
Does it have any affect whatsoever?
When im "in the zone" while working out cardio, my HR gets around 85% MAX. which is around 170. My HR drops fairly quickly to about 90 about 2-3 minutes after stopping. My RHR is 52.
Is this okay?
Any specific medical and health questions should be directed towards your doctor--he or she is really the only one who can answer your last question.
There is no inherent reason why a "heart murmur" would affect heart rate response to exercise. If you have an arrhythmia, or irregular heart beat, that can affect the readings.
If you have concerns about any symptoms or heart rhythm issues, your doctor can order a Holter Monitor test which will record all your heart beats for 24 hrs and can detect any abnormal HR response to exercise.

Quoted for emphasis.
If its a heart murmur like 20% of the population has and doesn't even know they have it wouldn't effect it one bit. I have a heart murmur too - was diagnosed in high schol never caused me a bit of trouble I just have to take antibiotics before dentist appts and had to have shots of something after giving birth.
A speedy recovery rate after pushing yourself is a sign of a healthy heart.
Unless a dr has said to be careful with cardio workouts I personally wouldn't worry about it and it has no effect on the calorie burn.
