Huh. Michael Jackson died too?

WTF? Apparently a bad day to be a celebrity. Michael Jackson supposedly  died just now.

Well, I never thought the man was invincible, nor was I an ardent fan, but my coming of age, like a lot of people, had his music in the background.  Still a big fan of Thriller -a and let's face it, a lot of people just will not admit that they HAVE done the Thriller zombie dance, and taken a stab at moonwalking.

Right now I'm wondering about his kids.  I know from news stories he was having financial troubles - I really hope they're taken care of, and aren't subject to media hounds flashing cameras in their face everywhere they go.

It is a loss.  Best thoughts to his kids and family.

RIP..MJ and Farrah Frown

Maybe those kids will go back to their real parents, whoever they are.

I still do the thriller zombie dance.  That is the best music vid evah.

Farrah and Michael?

This is just like when the media coverage of Princess Diana's death overshadowed the death of Mother Theresa.

ROTFLMFAO!

I'm not surprised....with years of drug abuse and eating disorder [he apparently weighed somewhere in the vincinity of 100 lbs...and was 5'10]..I'm surprised his heart didn't give out sooner.

Not a fan of the man...for numerous reasons. But, I will not argue that he was an incredible talent, innovator...muscial genius that paved the way for muscial pop artists...from Madonna to Usher and all in between.

i totally never saw this coming at all! i'm not a huge fan of michael jackson, but i was a fan of his music. i don't know why, but i felt like he was immortal or something hahah :\

Cosmetically speaking, it was more FROM Usher TO Madonna.

He didn't look underweight to me. o.0

I'm so sorry you're taking this so hard bunny. I loved his music. I am only 1 year younger than him and grew up listening to everything he did.

About his being underweight, that was the first thing I thought of when I heard cardiac arrest. He was so very thin and often looked like a breeze would blow him away. I know he was into several very severe diets over the years.

Yeah I'm sure if someone you knew or loved passed away you'd want someone to make insensitive comments such as this about them. Grow up.

I'm not too concerned that Michael Jackson's loved ones might see my insensitive comments here on the ol' CC.com forums.

Now, why don't you and all the other delusional superfans come on back down here to reality. People are dying every day ... all around the world, due to unnecessary wars, in fights for rights, of extreme povery. A CHILD DIES EVERY 3 SECONDS from lack of clean water to drink. I wish there was an outcry for THOSE people like there are for celebrities.

Tattooed-Kitty--You are right people are dying every second of every day BUT TODAY Michael Jackson died and this post is regarding HIM  And if I remember correctly, he helped raise lot's of money to help the children, now it's his time.  Show some respect!

I personally cannot even grasp the idea that he is gone yet.  I've been talking about it nonstop since I've heard.  Even my husband who doesn't really like MJ as a person, still he's is shock too!  I don't care what has happened in the past, the point is that the man passed away today.  I have been a fan since I can remember and I'm only 32--even my 7 year old daughter loves his music!!!

We had a summer festival in our state today called the Big Bang (Huge firework display) about an hour away from us for Summerfest that I let my daughter stay up and watch on tv and she said, "Maybe Michael Jackson is watching this from heaven with God" Out of the mouth of children!!!  I hope indeed he was watching and what a display for remarkable man!!!  RIP!

Its true tattooed.. yet you cant really bring up that excuse... or well, you can but cmon. :p Its the same kind of reasoing as. "oh bugger.. this swine flu pandemic has already killed up to 1000 people over the past month" then someone going to them and saying, "hey, more than 5000 people die daily from nicotine caused cancer.. and 200 die daily from drunk driving and...." Its true and it is sad and there is alot happening elsewhere and where is the focus on them. Its as madonna sang while playing the role of Evita,

"For I am ordinary, unimportant
And undeserving of such attention
Unless we all are, I think we all are
So share my glory, so share my coffin"

But in truth, the spotlight is on certain people and they have marked out a part in or lives. Be it from being a direct fan, or having grown up listening to their music (in this case), or it just being someone who has in some part left a memoire.

Had MJ died 15 years ago. I wouldnt be surprised to see a grand funeral given out at the vatican with the pope heading it and many renown and famous people from the industry not to mention the billions of fans flocking the place as if he were a divine emissary.

Though because of this latter problems and issues be they true or not. Time simply tarnished him into despair and pitty. People sort of forgot about him. So his death came as something.. "damn.. we treated him like **** these past couple of years and now he is gone".  Like a candle in the wind which long ago burnt out. Yet I think in time.. mabye even two generations to come we will begin listening to new bands and groups play out his music and he will be an icon of a past time. A more modern Elvis with even more issues about him. Such is life.

You are like, totally missing the point, like, completely.

OF COURSE someone dies everyday of every second! Should I or anyone else not be sad when someone they LOVED as died just because others have died too? I mean, seriously?

He wasn't just a celebrity, he did SO MUCH with his money. He was all about helping the children.

By coincidence, I arrived at UCLA at 2:30 today and was surprised at how many helicopters were swarming over the medical center.  Didn't realize until an hour later what the specific circumstances were.

Very sad for his family and fans.

:(

He wasn't just a celebrity, he did SO MUCH with his money. He was all about helping the children.

He was all about molesting the children, too. I'm with tattooed on this. I wish people would quit obsessing over celebs when they don't know them.

Let's see - I don't want this to become a bunfight however, as someone in law enforcement I would like to see evidence by way of conviction of child molestation before you start making allegations you do not know to be true.

Secondly I am not self-obsessing over a celebrities per-se, but as someone who grew up with his music and her films, they represent at various times milestones in my life; landmarks if you will.  Despite your collective personal feelings, these people were talented and did put themselves out in the public eye, warts and all.  Therefore naturally they come to our attention more than the devastation caused to people all around the world from war, famine, etc.

EDITED TO ADD:  Further do you denounce Elvis Presley in such a fashion for having affairs and taking drugs?  Bet you don't - bet you still love his music and rock on to it too.  Bet you don't turn the radio off everytime Elvis or Michael were given air time ... or marilyn manson or , or or.  Gosh, you made some sweeping statements!

However as someone who is NOT from the US of A, I must say my view is that - and you cannot deny history - that the good ol' USA more often than not has it's hands or it's bank account included in many wars and events around the world.  It's a matter of international politics.  So, I think your comments to be somewhat shallow on the political surface, whilst the sentiment behind them are not and are bedded in championing humanity.

I am for humanity definitely, but I do not think we should be denounced in such a fashion for expressing OUR grief, shock, feelings, etc.  Accept you don't agree by all means, but please don't state untruths or at least unproven events, and belittle the feelings of others (that's if you are as caring about humanity as you say you are - our feelings count too).

Cheers.

Let me guess, you have evidence of this? Any person who is molested by anyone cannot be silenced by money. He even admitted that he regretted paying them off.

I mean, they searched his house up and down and his ranch...and found nothing. Hrrmmmm!

Edit: I'd also like to point out that while the father and the boy in 1993 were going after MJ, the mother said none of it was true. The father and MJ were friends and when their friendship ended, the allegations began.

Well I am as much of a fan of MJ as I am of any other celebrity, but a man down is a man down. My mother told me if I didnt have anything nice to say dont say anything at all. So regardless of your opinions you need to show some R.E.S.P.E.C.T for the dead, grow up and shut up!!!!!
