hi

i was wondering if anyone knows what weight and measurements I should go for when buying a hula hoop. I really want to tone up and this seems perfect.

Here are my stats

Height: 5'10"

Weight: 140 lbs

Waist: 27"

Hips: 38"

Anyone know? thanks

It depends.  The larger the hoop the easier it is to keep up and the broader you have to swing your hips to get it keep going. Where as smaller hoop will require more quick rotation of your hips and be more aerobic.

Personally I like big hoops.  There are some websites that give instructions on how to build your own hoop.  A homemade hope is nothing more than a black plumbing pipe, and a pipe connector.

Hula hooping is a lot of fun! This website has lots of good info.

Here are instructions on how to make a hoop. Once I had all the stuff together it took me about 10 minutes(minus the colorful tape) to make mine.

I really like hula hoops that have sand or water in them. (:

They are heavier so that might be good. Also, I love the sound they make. Hahaha. It's entertaining.

www.hoop-store.com makes custom hoops.  They will let you choose your color and size so you get the perfect one

I started with a big hoop a few months ago (around 42" I think) and have worked my way down to about a 36". I make sure to incorporate my arms and legs too, so it's a full body workout. Plus, it's more fun when you start doing tricks. :)

My new favorite hobby is blasting some music with a good beat and hooping/dancing in front of the mirror in my living room.
