Hummus anyone?
So I really enjoy hummus as a snack throughout the day, but I am getting bored with what I eat it with. I usually have 3 slices of ham with some jalapeno hummus. I tried some old french bread around the house with the hummus, but I didn't like it. Does anyone want to share what they eat with hummus with me?
Hrm, ham with hummus. I never would have put the two together.
It is really good with carrot sticks. I never would have thought about it, but someone mentioned it on here, and I really like it.
Also, the standard pita is always great.
I love it with pita. Sometimes I use it in replace of mayo or mustard when I make a sandwich.
i also eat it when i make sandwiches / wraps / pitas
i love it with dippy vegetables (carrots, celery, sugar snap peas - things like that) and on whole wheat crackers.
I like to take cucumber slices and spread a bit of hummus on top with a but of paprika or some spice to give it some extra flavor. Its great because it is crunchy and creamy. Sometimes I cut up wheat bread into squares and make little cucumber hummus sandwiches. Very filling and nutritious.
As others have said, use it as a dip for raw veggies (not just carrot sticks - use it on anything!), bread, pita, tortilla chips. Use it as a sandwich spread in place of mayo or mustard.
I love the Supremely Spicy from Sabra Hummus - it is great. I have hummus with pita chips - they have whole wheat ones that are great and not that bad in calories. i make a hummus sandwich with sprouts, grated carrots, olives, cucumbers and spinach leaves. It is yummy.
My favorite is to dip it with cherry tomatoes- yum! As others have said, I also use it on sandwiches instead of mayo, butter, etc.
I think everyone else has pretty much answered the way I would but I'll tell you anyway. I like my hummus with carrots and red bellpeppers. I also love hummus and pita or lavash and it's a great spread on a sandwich/wrap in place of mayo.
I eat it with wheat thins, carrots, water crackers, oh and a spoon!! I love the stuff, even make it at home so I can eat it whenever I want.
Whole weat pita, extra garlic sliced pickles (the dicks sandwich savers, 4cal per 2 slices) and hot sauce for authenticity (0 cal). Sometimes some black olives.
I dip pretzels in hummus. It's awesome because you can eat so much more since pretzels are low cal compared to things like pita chips.
Has anyone else tried eggplant hummus from Trader Joe's? I tried some this weekend--really delicious on veggies, garlicky and wonderful...and I think it was only 35 cal for 2 tablespoons.
i love mine with falafel :) soooo yummy!
