Hunger...or me being a blanking idiot

Quote  |  Reply
I called my very good friend Di this morning....I had to vent...I came across a journal I have kept since 1996...and it was only about weight loss...I read through it and got completely depressed....for twelve years...I have yo-yoed up and down....I feeel so good right now...If I could only keep this feeling...I know I could do this...but that is my problem...I never keep it...and I go back up...ugh...

So being a good friend that she is...She talked me down from my rant....Now the next conversation will change my life forever...

Me: You know how I am always hungry...even after 30 minutes of a big meal I start to feel hungry again.

Di: Yeah I never understood that

Me: Well...I am starting to think that is not actually hunger pains...because since I started this diet...My stomach actually growled(I really have not felt my stomach growl in a long time because I ate so much) I think that feeling is something else and I just thought it meant I was hungry

Di: Does it feel like a gnawing feeling above your stomach

Me: Yeah...kinda in the middle below the ribs...the diagram area.

Di: That is acid reflux...(than she went on to explain how)

Me: Really

Di: Go take two Tums

Me: (after going to take two and waiting a minute and paying attention to my body) OMG...its gone...that gnawing feeling is gone (than I precede to freak out..basically saying I am an idiot over and over)

Di: Glad I can help.

So basically...I am an idiot...all this time I thought I had this huge appetite...and not really....and you want to know something that is truly funny....When I have read the side affects of being over weight I always had all the problems that went with it....but when I read the part about acid reflux...I always thought...Well thank god I don't have that.

You're not an idiot.

You're simply smarter today than you were yesterday - and that's a positive, not a negative. Wink

Wow...thanksSmile

Wow, who knew!!  I wonder if Tums would help me!  I was just talking to my BFF yesterday about how I'm ALWAYS hungry...  I'm going to try that!! : )  Thanks so much for sharing!!!

I agree that you aren't an idiot!!! You are smarter today AND you are making us smarter for it too!!! Thanks for sharing! And tell your BFF thanks for the info!!!

Good luck to you!!!Smile

That's a great story. Thanks for sharing. Good news is, as you lose the weight, that acid reflux problem will start to deteriorate.

Also, tums is a great source of calcium!

I also was thinking I was hungry too and my daughter said 'maybe you should take a Tums'....I felt so much better.

Please do not think you are an idiot because then I would be an idiot and I am always trying to tell myself I am not an idiot even though I can be....lol

there was this girl in my summerschool class who ate tums like candy.

pretty soon half of our class was asking this girl for some tums to eat :|

Hey Thanks!!!!!!!!  I am hitting the store for some Tums today - and I am going to share this with my sister - I'll bet she is having the same issue!  Thanks for sharing!

Try the Tums "smoothies".  They taste so much better than the original kind!  I get heartburn all the time so I take them with me everywhere I go.

It still works...that pain is gone...

and now I know how it feels to be truly hungry...especially at nightWink
