Is it 'normal' for my age to do this by the way  i am 17 years old 5'10. I do not know if this is normal for my age to eat a lot and not feel untiil a big amount of food has been eaten. Am i going to throught a growth spurt or what?

Any comments will be helful? This has been going on for a while.

"Lots of food" doesn't equate lots of calories. How many calories do you eat on average and what do you weigh? And how active are you?

the anount of calories  i eat on a norma day is between 2200-2500 its not like i am undereating and i am active an hour four or five days of the week and weight last time i checked 147 (i decided to stop weighting myself often because its not normal for a teen my age to do that)

has any teens/anyone felt this?

I am certainly not done growing, I am only 20.  But when I was in highschool I ate like a pig, had breakfast at school, would eat fast foods for lunch, big family dinner at night and plenty of snacks in between to include endless bowls of cereal late at night.  I never paid attention to nutrition when I ate like this, but it was right around when I went through a growth spurt, I shot from 5'4 to 5'9 in less then a year... probably consumed upwards of 4000calories/day, some days more, rarely less, with a lightly active lifestyle and I was a pretty healthy lookin.

I never felt I ate too much back then, and I am no doctor right now, but I think increased appetite isn't abnormal.

i just eat eat and not feel full and my stomach is like a black hole

Just listen to your body and go with the flow. I have two younger brothers so I know from experience that teenage boys are bottomless pits. You are most definitely still growing and need all the calories you can get, especially since you're active. You're already quite tall, which is awesome btw, but that's not to say you won't get taller and you still need to fill out and build up that grown man strength and everything that comes with it. Be sure you're getting enough fats and proteins and you probably need to be eating much more than 2500 a day.

My brothers are 20 and 16 now and I can tell you the 16 year old who I see more often eats like a horse, constantly and copious amounts. He has generally healthy taste but hell definitely still use things like butter and cheese liberally, eats breakfast, snacks, packs like a foot long sandwich with tons of snacks for school, comes home and eats like 2 frozen meals and ice cream, then eats more dinner than any of us, then eats dessert. I wouldn't be surprised to find he gets 5000 calories a day. The older one, we joke that he's the garbage disposal, he'll go out to eat with us, eat his big steak or burger and all his sides, then go on to eat what everyone else leaves. I also remember when he was still living at home (and started on a whole body building kick) he'd come home from school and pan fry 3 or 4 steaks and top them with fried eggs....yeah, not that appealing to me lol, but that's what he likes.

so bottom line, your 17 year old male body can handle a lot of food, just keep it somewhat balanced and enjoy it!

You are a growing boy. When your body goes through a growth spurt you need extra calories. Make sure you are getting enough healthy fat and carbs. Balanced and clean is key. A boy your age needs a lot of calories and calories from the right foods.

thanks to all

I think it's pretty normal, Alex, for a teenage male to have a big appetite.  I see from your profile that you want to be a dietician, so why don't you do some research?

Are you eating enough protein and fruits/vegetables?  The few foods you mention sound like processed carbs (cereal, Clif bars).  While your choices may be healthy cereals and bars, they don't take the place of good old-fashioned food.  Perhaps you would not feel so hungry if you eat more frequently, and eat more whole foods.  If you eat 6 small meals a day then you may not get overly full at any one meal.

You have a history of anorexia & bulimia, your profile says.  Are you still overly sensitive to feeling full?

And, as it says above my post as I type, "The information presented...is not a substitution for professional healthcare advice.  Always consult your doctor..."

Best wishes...

yes I eat fruit and veggies
