Hunger Pangs
So it's 8:30 pm and I'm up to 1,900 calories for the day; by now I shouldn't feel like eating, but for the last four days I've constantly felt like I'm starving - I've been drinking plenty of water/tea to see if it's because of dehydration, turns out it isn't, because no amount of water seems to be helping. I've also been feeling vaguely queasy, in combination with what feels like painful hunger pangs.
Regarding physical activity, I swam for an hour, lifted weights for half an hour, and I did some interior renovation for about two hours - it sounds like a lot but it didn't feel like enough physical activity to cause this sort of hunger.
My diet is almost exclusively vegetables/fruit/whole grains - my protein is generally from beans (chickpeas today).
This likely sounds like a silly question, but could it be that, even at 1900 calories, I should eat more for the day? My burn meter has me at 2,500.
(Note: I'm 21, female, 5'7, 141 lbs and no, I'm not close to TTOM)
so eat something plus its not like u need to lose weight and u were extremely active too
I wasn't at a terribly healthy weight not so long ago; I'm down to the last few pounds that I want to lose (at this point, admittedly, vanity pounds) and would like to be able to keep up my routine.
Generally, 1,900 calories is enough for me each day, so encountering a period of time where it suddenly isn't (and I don't believe I'm that active, compared to how much exercise I was doing a few months ago) is a bit confusing.
Are you eating enough fats?
Rufus_k: After you said that, I looked over my food log, at the long list of whole grain breads/fruit/spinach salads and then smacked myself in the forehead. It turns out I've been neglecting my fat intake. Thank you.
Hope it helps!
1900 might work for you, but I know that at 5'3" and 25 (120lbs), I still try to take in at least 1200 calories a day. Eating a bit of a snack, depending on the snack, shouldn't ruin your diet plan -- and, sometimes, I get those hunger pangs in the evening, too. What I do is keep a box of those single serving 100 calorie popcorn mini-bags in my cupboard for such occasions..not only is it yummy, but it's already portion controlled for you, and a little extra fiber is never a bad thing. (That might help keep you full until bedtime, too.)
Good luck with those last few pounds! I know how stubborn they can be. ![]()
