Should you feel these to lose weight?

Depends on how long you've been trying to lose. If you've just started your body surely hasn't adjusted. However, my opinion is if you're truly hungry (which hunger pains implies) your body is telling you that you need to eat something. Try eating a piece of fruit or something. If you're eating a high fiber, extremely nutritious diet with enough calories in it, though, I don't think you shouldn't be feeling these.
Well, |'ve been eating about 1,200-1,400 per day.
And | basically never experience hunger pangs, because | space out my food so much.
But | haven't seen much fat loss, so |'m wondering if | should cut back more to the point where | feel hungry, and just deal with it. |'m wondering if |'ll lose more fat this way?
It doesn't seem logical to me for some reason to be able to lose fat without feeling hungry *sometime*.

sometimes thirst can be attributed to hunger pangs. I will drink a glass of water and wait and see what happens. Most times my body was wanting water not food. Something else I have noticed is with cravings... when I think nothing but a packet of chips will satisfy me, put the smallest amount of something like garlic salt on my tongue and let it dissolve. Voila, craving gone. Same with sweet food. A very small amount of say cinamon sugar takes away that need to devour a packet of sweet biscuits in one sitting. My body craves sugar and salt, not the actual food.
I read a post a while back , it was an article called secrets of natrually thin people or something. It said that with these people feeling a hunger pang was not an emergency. Its like hmm, i am hungry i should eat soon. a lot of times I've noticed when i get a pang i immediatly have the crave to quench it. since reading the article I realize that I am not starving to death on a desert isle & I can have some agua & wait an hour to go home & eat dinner
aio- I would eat more. You may not be seeing loss because you're not eating enough. You say you eat 1200-1400, well do you work out too? If so, you probably aren't eating enough; 1200 is a minimum, so going above it is good!
fonda: | drink a lot. All water.
| wasn't saying that | was having hunger pangs, and I wasn't asking how to cope with them. | was more asking if | should be having them in order to lose weight more effeciantly
tgbrown- | think |'m eaeting plenty. Tonight | had to force myself to eat some more food to reach 1,200. 0n the days | exercise, | tend to be more hungry, so | eat things higher in protien. Like tuna or something.
|'m eating plenty of calories. | just still feel fat. |'ve lost 10 lbs so far, but | don't see any difference in my body. So |'m wondering if | should cut more calories or something..

If I'm hungry, actually hungry- not bored, moody, thirsty, etc, then I eat! I'm just careful about what I eat. I've lost 37 lbs since Jan 14th, and I am never belly rumbling hungry. If you are that hungry, perhaps you have set your calorie allotment too low?
I love how no one is actually reading her post.
She wants to know if it's normal to feel hungry when you're tyring to loose weight.
Personally I don't think you would loose any more weight if you felt hungry all the time, just watch your calorie allotment.
A good example is a lady at my work. She is heavy-set, (I would estimate around 180 lbs), and she will usually have a coffee for breakfast (black). She will usually have a Campbell's soup-at-hand, or a plain sandwich (two slices of white bread, a a slice of ham, thats it). She then goes and often eats fast food for dinner, or something cooked.
Now, the fact that she eats fast food doesn't make a difference in this case, it really is that she isn't taking in ENOUGH calories to loose weight. Your body goes into a kind of panic-mode, where it thinks it is being starved, and so conserves everything it can.
So as odd as it sounds, it is actually possible to gain weight taking in too few calories. If you really aren't seeing any difference, rather than trying to starve yourself, eat a bit more, things like veggies and fruit.
As well, make sure you are doing some weight training when you work out. I hit a plateau, and had a consultation with a personal trainer, and he told me to ensure that I encorporate weight training no matter what, because two things give you curves, and they are fat and muscle. If you just burn fat with cardio, great, but then you're left with a shapeless, skin and bone body.
That, and you burn more calories when sitting and doing nothing when you have more muscle than not ;)

I say no. You shouldn't feel hungry on a regular basis. And you should not eat less to the point that your body has to tell you it's hungry. Stick with the 5-6 small meals all day long. Make those calories count. If you're "stuck" try upping the exerise or mix it up. Maybe your body is used to what you're doing. Or zig -zag your calories for the same reason. As you loose, your body gets used to the new routine and sometimes you have to shake it up a bit. I hit a MAJOR (several months long) plateau. I tried all the things people suggest (zig-zag calories, more water, more exercise etc)What finally kicked my weight loss back into gear was working in the yard for 5 hours one nice day. Though I ate a ton of calories, there was no way I could even come close to my deficit. It seemed to be exactly what I needed to start loosing again. Remember also that if you're toning up, muscle will weigh more than fat so the scale may not move even though you're loosing inches. Try a tape measure. But to answer your initial question no, you don't have to feel hungry to loose weight.
