Too hungry after dinner...

Quote  |  Reply

So I've been eating a 1200 cal diet for about a week, or at least trying to. I do great allll dayy, but once i eat dinner I can't stop eating!! Last night I had two slices of pizza-300 cal; sausage biscuit 200 cal over; juice-100 cal over. So instead of eating 1200 cal, I ate 600 cal on top of that!! 1800 cal!! Def not diet food! What should I do to curb my snacking! I hate being hungry! Some days I can easily do it, other days no way!

Your calorie target is not enough calories to sustain yourself on. You're binging because you're depriving yourself of food. You need to eat more.

1200 is the minimum intake for a completely sedentary, short/tiny female. I don't know your height or weight but you should be aiming for more than 1200. Hell, I'm 5'2 and I lost weight eating around 1400-1500 a day.

l am not an expert on this, but from the little that l have learnt  maybe 1200 cal is just not enough for you. l think 1200 is the absolute minimum for a woman, so maybe the minimum is not enough for you. Try to up your intake a little with 1200 calories you might not lose weight, because your body starts producing that infamous starvation hormones and you gain more instead of losing. Maybe someone who knows more here will shed some light, goodluck.

Try for 1500 cal for a week and see if your cravings change.

I am just like you in this situation, I would be so proud of myself for eating good the whole day, but when dinner time comes around for some reason I want to eat EVERYTHING in sight!  Then i would totally blow my diet after that. I think what might help is try to eat alittle more but foods that have more protein during the day. I started eating special K protein meal bars for breakfast with a coffee and for lunch i would try to eat a sandwhich (you can buy light bread, condiments, and meat and it cuts down alot of calories w/o taking out protein and flavor) with a diet pop and it seemed like when dinner came around I was not as hungry! So maybe try that instead of getting junk food with empty calories! =)\

Good luck my fellow eater!

You're hungry because you are not eating enough. What are you eating? What kinds of foods. What is a typical day. I would bump up your calorie intake to more like 1,500 and see if that makes you feel better.

I'm 5'3 I weigh around 132. When i stick to my 1200 cal diet, i quickly go down to 130, so that why i like that intake.

Apparently, it's not working so I will have to up my cals because I end up eating more than I bargained for.

I eat pretty healthy during the day like fruits n veggies and chicken, cereal, apple sauce, cheese sticks, wheat english muffins.

Thanks for all the answers! I think I will up my cal intake to 1400 today n the next few days to see how that works. Thank u all!

My advice is to start the day out on a very healthy note!  Have an omelette thats made with one egg and 3 egg whites, onions, mushrooms, peppers, any leftover lean meat from last nights dinner if you have some.

Then, instead of the cheese stick or english muffin have cottage cheese & all bran.

I'd say you at least need 1400-1500 calories per day. You may not see results as quickly as you would on a 1200 diet, but the results will last longer because you won't be depriving yourself so much. Also, try eating foods high in fiber and protein. But it seems like you're already doing some of that.

You're welcome. But don't focus on "quickly going down" 99% of the time when people do that they gain it all back plus some. Find a plan you can stick with the rest of your life. Then loose weight slowly in a healthy way. Good luck.
