I know that Im suppose ti have about 1200 calories daily, and I watch what I eat and try to eat healthy, but according to 'Calorie Count' im only eating about 900 cals max! Im 5'3' and 145, I know im suppose to have more cals then this, but Im just not hungry! I cant force myself to eat, I get sick just thing to forcing myself...
I need some ideas for help. what coud I do to get more calories eith no force eating? any ideas?
thanks Bree, I'm trying to eat more foods with healthy results but with more calories. I like some of your ideas, but really the 'grab and go)' kind, seeing im always at work or at school and HS activities. maybe some fiber cereal that I can take in a lunch bag to munch on. . . . . oh the ideas that could be out there.
Ill try some of your suggestions! thanks again.:)
yeah you deffinately need to get your calories up with more dense calorie filled nutrious foods... eating 900cal a day is only going to slow down your metabolism to match your caloric intake and slow your weightloss, and when you eat more your body will store all the excess calories... not fun.
good luck.
Wow, thanks skinnyogi and carmenxox for your incruaging words! :)
at the monvent i am looking at different sorces for health and gaining more cals, there is so much infomation out there. . . . .
Thank you for the ideas skinnyogi, I love the idea of nut bars and fruit, i love eating fruit! you also said nuts are a good on the go . . . . .what kind of nuts? I heard that things like trail mix are olny goog in very small amounts. what do you think of dried blananas?
enzyme1, im sorry but you are very uneducated when it comes to dieting... so don't give false information
if you have been on CC for longer then a day then you should know already that eating less then 1200cal for a woman and less then 1500cal for a man is very healthy and counterproductive
all these "starvation" type diets do is cause damage to your metabolism, slowing it down as well as preventing your body from functioning and healing properly (think slower hair growth or falling out, slowed heart rate, loss of bone density etc.)
then once you do start to eat more, your body will still think that it is starving and end up storing every thing, resulting in weight gain and bloating
if she is stuffed eating 900cal a day, then it already means that her metabolism has probably slowed to match this intake, and it is highly possible that she may gain some wieght back when she does start to eat more...
don't fear though, this weight is temporary and mostly water; as soon as your body learns to trust you again it will let go of it.
there have been many threads on this topic, I suggest a little more research to back up what I have just told you

I actually really like raw almonds- salted ones I always want to keep chowing down on but raw ones give you all the nutrients without the extra sodium. My fiance eats dried bananas but the kind he get have sugar on them so I don't think they're that great. There are the natural raisins that are okay- I went through a phase where I LOVED raisins and bought a ridiculous amount of them. You could get the little boxes of them.
I know a lot about dieting especially the "starvation" diets, not that I endorse or partake in them in anyway unless supervised of course. and they call it semi starvation or a VLCD "very low calorie diet" when you consume 50% of your BMR around 800 calories, they are for super morbidly obese people and are fine short term under medical guidance , and you get some metabolic slow down with any calorie restricting diet, and while regularly consuming less than 1200 calories can cause a reduction of up to 40% when normal eating is re-established it returns to normal,
"all these "starvation" type diets do is cause damage to your metabolism, slowing it down as well as preventing your body from functioning and healing properly (think slower hair growth or falling out, slowed heart rate, loss of bone density etc.)"
what you described is an eating disorder not a diet.
"eating less then 1200cal for a woman and less then 1500cal for a man is very healthy and counterproductive" and I think you mean unhealthy not healthy?
alright exzume1, slowdown. we allmake writing mistakes, i even have a spelling problem. but that is not the point here, and for the record i cant eat like i did before because i have a medical prob that came up a couple years ago. carmenx0x is just repeating what you can read and what this web site is for. you sound very (forgive the word) passionate about the different kinds of diets out there and have experience with the subject.
All I was asking in the beginning was for some ideas to up my cals in a healthy way. the old way was a bag of potato chips and a can of soda. not a happy way to live. As to getting fat in the first place? well, it started in school and went on from there. one day i just came to my attention of how big and unhealthy i was. I also have some trouble finding on the go foods for school and work, with me being a mostly vegetarian.:) ( i like fish and chicken sometimes, not very often).
Skinnyogi, I like the idea of raw almonds, how much do you eat in a serving? and do you think i can find for sugar free dried bananas at my local health store? and raisins. . . . . yuck :P i can be just a little bit picky, but ill eat them with the bananas!
Try to add some light cardio in the morning, like a brisk walk around the neighborhood, a bike ride, etc. This will wake up your metabolism. A large, healthy breakfast will also rev up your metabolism. If you're not a big breakfast eater, try adding 50 calories every other day until you reach 300-600 calories for breakfast.
Also, olive oil is a great way to slip in calories with healthy fats. Add to pasta or rice dishes, stir fry veggies in, drizzle on salads - you can add it to just about any dish!
What type of food should not be eaten?
Calorie Count does not prescribe a particular diet or tell people to avoid particular foods. We only ask that you eat a balanced diet... Read more
