http://hungry-girl.com. dig it.

in the "chew the right thing" section, there are a whole buncha articles that compare commercial foods to those prepared the 'hungry-girl' way. a lot of them look soooooo appetizing and are MUCH lower in calories than the originals. some seem impossible [like this one: http://hungry-girl.com/chew/chewdetails.php?i sid=1091 ; the hungry-girl.com way is 1/8 the calories of the original]!

check it out. SERIOUSLY.

that looks soooo good! Seems like you would burn more calories making it than there are in a slice!
I LOVE HG! I recieve daily emails and I love itttt. She is truly a life saver!
Indded. I jsut wish she's do more recipies with more common ingredients. I dont have cool whip or sugar free pudding or a decent sub, so it rules out 50% of the recipies. Most of the ones I do have a higher cal count (like we dont have fat free stuff, only low fat, other than yogurt) or insteaed of firbe one (60 cal per cup) i have to use one that's 90 cals per cup.
But she is good.
oh my gosh this is one of the coolest websites ever! I can't wait to go out and try these recipes! I really liked the one with the strawberry starbucks knockoff! Thanks so much for the tip!
a lot of the ingredients seem WAY worth the trip to the grocery store once you've made the food, though ;o
definitely a good site... a lot of people have problems with it because she isnt exactly a health advocate, just a calorie cutter.

works for me ;D

Just get a Yank to overnight you a care package with a little dry ice.
Actully, alot of her recipes are healthy. And if they aren't that great for you, they're still much healthier versions of the original recipe, so I don't see why people would have a problem with it. But I agree, Jackie, whatever works, eh? :D

Her recipes aren't encouraged to be made everyday. It's for people who are watching what they eat who, like regular people, feel like having junky food once in a while. This way we can do it the healthy/lowcal way!
i LOVE hg! but sometimes it's hard for me to find the ingredients and they can be a little pricey. but i made the chicken strip swaps and they were DELICIOUS. i loved 'em.

hungrygirl is great
Some of those things sound amazing. Mm. Thanks for sharing.
I'd LOVE to get someone to send me a pile of stuff. Only problem is you cant bring US dairy into asutralia
When I go to the US (one day) so going to stock up on grapenuts, your puddings etc. and firbre one (plus the 100 cal snack packs) and prolly everything I can get my greedy little hands one!

I am addicted to this website now! I also have the cookbook!

Meh, well I guess it depends on your defintion of "healthy."  Most people believe that HG's use of the original fiber one cereal (with aspartame) and splenda, which contain artificial flavors and are contested to give health problems, makes them not as healthy as they seem.

I'm not a fan.  I'd rather eat a slice of pizza or something every now and then than make some fake, poor imitation of "pizza" that has artificial sweeteners and Fiber One cereal as ingredients.  I've visited the website time and time again just to be open-minded and see if there's anything I can utilize from the recipes, but so far the only recipe I may try is the swap for Bloomin' Onions (and even then, I'm personally swapping out a lot of the HG ingredients for my own!).
