mmaky so i live near the coast in Mississippi... if anyone knows there will be a ginormous hurricane hitting in like 24-36 hours... yes we'll lose all power and everything for a while... putting my eatting cycles and food in a HUGE whilrwind... ill have no yoggurt, fresh food, wheat bread( i am DEATHLY afraid of crap white processed prodcuts) and basically our hurricane stashed food is canned meats, spaghettios, canned sausage gravy....lots of boxes of processed junk food.. omg i am so scared to even THINK about eatting these foods... the only thing i found i dont mind are MY nuts(almonds and pistachios)... does anyone have ANY idea of some stuff i may be able to grab up from the grocery store so im not freaking out????
Here's some things that don't need refrigeration or heating up
Some fruit lasts a while outside the refrigerator- Apples, Bananas, Oranges,
Kelloggs protein water- (there's a powder version that's very portable) takes the edge off when I'm hungry
Nuts, Rice Cakes, Peanut Butter, dried fruit (get the organic kind if you can)
Canned chicken or Tuna (I like the kind that comes in the packet, not the can)
Of course this is not ideal and if you do have to eat the yucky processed stuff do so in moderation and don't punish yourself! My God you're surviving through a natural disaster! Take care of yourself and good luck.
Yes, Natural Disaster Safety first, calorie counting second. Seriously, take care of yourself and don't worry about overeating during this storm! *HUGS*
Take care of yourself! Be safe. Hope the storm isn't as bad as forecast xxx
Our thoughts and prayers up here in Washington State are with you! Don't worry about what you eat and just stay safe!
thanks guys any other suggestion are welcome though...
yes my safety of me and my family i always first.. i made sure EVERYONE got up for mass this AM to as we say "pray for us during this time of ravages & storm damage"
i got some packet tuna, salmon and chicken
a couple soups i thought i might now mind
NUTS
didnt think of dried fruit
and a big jar of naturally more peanut butter!
only problem... every grocery store is out of bread... what else besides celery/wheat thins i know of can i add peanut butter to?
apples
bananas
crackers
raisins
pretzels
pita chips
baby carrots(weird I know, haha!)
Other good nonperishable food might be: crackers, dry cereal, apples, bananas, baby carrots/celery, rice cakes. There are also some types of milk and pudding that dont need refridgeration. Also hard candy/gum might be good to have. That all I can think of right now, hope everything turns out okay!
