Husband and I starting P90X program
Some of you may have seen this on infomercials. It is a very vigorous program with diet and daily exercise. For the most part he hasn't been very excited about losing weight. Wants to do it, but not put in the effort. He found this program a few years ago and has been on message boards talking to people about it. Basically it is a 12 week program, but can be extended if needed. You start out the first 4 weeks (the fat shredder)with one type of diet with low carbs and 6 days of hard core workouts, every day working a different part of your body and one day of rest. The next 4 weeks (toning) is a diet that is a little more proportioned with carbs and protien but low fat and still doing the exercises. The last 4 weeks (muscle building) is higher in carbs still doing the exercises, but doubling them if possible. The thing is we will be eating quite a bit more calories since the workout is so intense. Almost double what I have been eating. Crazy huh!
Please keep me in prayers! LOL! We are both 40 yrs old and not in the best shape. Tim having a steel plate in his neck, shoulder and arm surgery behind him. He will need to take it easy or he will wind up hurting himself. He hopes to build the muscles around his bones to strengthen them to prevent any more damage in the future. I just want to get in a shape. Any shape but round would be great. LOL! Seriously though. I have never been in good shape. Just not quite so plump. To have definition in my muscles and no more rolls and heavy breathing when tying my shoes would be awesome.
Wish us luck and I will keep you posted. We start Monday. This week we have not eaten too great. Getting the old stuff out of the house to bring in the new. Haven't gained any weight but sure haven't lost any either.
Shellie
Shellie - I have never heard of this program, thank you for sharing about it. We are here to support you as you seek a healthy means to "tossing" those pounds and being healthy. I am glad to hear your husband is going to be doing this together with you. Norma Jean
I have told some friends of ours that if they don't hear from us for a while to check in. We may be stuck in bed and can't get up. LOL!
I myself am a TurboJam girl. Those P90X tapes look wicked hard, but you can get great results. I think if hubby & I were serious about getting up and working out together, we'd try the P90X. I think he'd find it "manly" enough to do!! TurboJam, not so much. :)
Keep us posted on the progress. I've heard good things.
