Did Hydroxycut make me crazy??
Before anyone posts it, I KNOW about the recall and the risks. I'm not a regular user of Hydroxycut, I merely tried it yesterday (my cousin had some on the shelf) to try and get an energy boost for the gym.
I turned into a weeping, anxious, grumpy mess! I seriously did not know what was wrong with me, I was honestly ready to book a ticket home (I'm an Aussie living in Illinois). When it came time for bed I was exhausted yet lay awake, freaking out and getting all teary, for 3 hours after I put the light out!!
I realise this could be a coincidence, but I'm not willing to experiment LOL. Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with Hydroxycut or similar giving them mood swings??
I tried it a while back and I only took it for 2 days then quit. I found after I took it I felt all "weird" is how I describe it, not a feeling I liked. My heart was racing, I was all jumpy I had alot of energy but I kind of just wandered around because I didn't want to do anything, I found it too hard to focus. I never got all weepy but I found I would get irritated easier than normal. When I went to bed I was tired but couldn't seem to stop the "buzzing" enough to go to sleep, and when I did finally go to sleep I did not sleep well, I woke up all night long. So after two days of that I decided that was enough I just didn't like the way I felt.
Hope this helps you.
thanks meldash, I feel a little less nuts now! I wonder what does it? I'm a pretty heavy caffiene consumer so it wouldnt be that for me... odd. But thanks for sharing, makes me alot less likely to try it again!!
I don't get it, why did you try it yesterday when the recall happened mor than a week ago? it's just strange that you would deliberatly try it after it's been deemed risky...pills are baaaaad, at least u didn't book your ticket home, did u? ;)
First of all, you probably shouldn't be taking it anymore since it was recalled- not a great idea.
But yes, I had the same experience when I tried it a few years ago! I took it at the start of a school semester and on the 1st day of school I couldn't focus in my classes, I was paranoid about things, and really emotional and anxious. It was so awful. I coudn't handle it for more than a few days so I quit.
The recall was from 23 people getting sick out of how many million? I've been on many medications with a MUCH higher evil side effect rate than that. As I said, tried it ONCE coz I was having a blah day and needed to make it to the gym. Not planning on making it a habit, I was just curious if anyone else had the same emo effects. Looks like I'm not the only one though!
Sounds like you were #24 then.

I think her liver is probably just fine.....
Anyway, how many did you take? The dose is 3 once you work up to it, but I took 3 straight off (I was 14 and self-conscious, sue me.) and got pretty damn weird-feeling. Also, those puppies have about 10 times more caffiene than a soda, so don't rule out the caffiene effect.
LOL theres nothing wrong with my liver that wasnt caused by vodka :D
I took 2 around 11am and was still a mess 12 hours later. Boo to them, I say!
12 hours later?
I think there's a good chance it was a coincidence then. Based on the frequency with which the standard dosage is meant to be taken, I think they metabolize and leave your system much, much faster than that.
EDIT: I've never tried these though, maybe they work differently than standard weightloss pills, so I could be off base.
I subscribe to a nutrition report news letter and Hydroxcut has been linked to causing liver damage. Don't take anymore of them.![]()
