Hydroxycut recalled
Link to story. Just wanted to share.
Glad someone beat me to it... just saw this on the news.
I'm not surprised. There's a reason why no diet pill has been deemed a "wonder drug". Half of the time we don't even know the full extent of the side effects until after it's been on the market for an extended period of time.
Most of these supplements frighten me. It's too bad the FDA doesn't regulate them as tightly as other pharmaceuticals. There's a reason that the testing for FDA approval of medications takes years!
Scary, right?
wow - that's a really popular one too...this one could have a very serious impact. I'm willing to bet there's quite a few on here who either have used it or currently still do.
Mods, maybe you can sticky so this doesn't get buried?
Good idea, thmheh.
Done.
SURPRISE! wait..no? yeah..no...not surprised.
^
Thank you VERY much for posting this!
just when I found something that helped me lose a few lbs, it gets recalled!
Iovate Health Sciences also makes other very similar weight-loss products under a few other branded labels... so I wonder if these shouldn't be scrutinized too?
that's what they get for thinking there's some magic way to lose weight other than diet and exercise.... ![]()
If you ask me, I don't think people actually use (or really abuse) them for weight loss. They may start out using them for weight loss, but there is a reason why they are addictive. I'm sure there are many comparisons to other drugs that are not as socially acceptable. You get a big dopamine release with some extra nervous energy, along with decreased appetite, hmmmm, can anyone think of some other illegal drugs that do the same.
speed? haha

Thats a bit harsh don't ya think. A 19 year old boy is DEAD!
Weight-loss pills are this century's snake oil dealers. Being wary doesn't quite cover it.

Woah. Relax. I wasn't talking about the guy. If anything, I was talking about the company. It's their fault, and I wasn't trying to put blame on anyone in my previous statement anyhow.
When I was about 16 I took diet pills called Thermo-something. I latre found out they'd been taken off the market because they caused psychotic episodes! Fab. They worked though!
It drives me crazy that people have such negative/judgemental reactions about this recall (from reading other forums as well). I'm not ashamed to say that I take/took these..but not for weight loss. I take one before I work out (granted not anywhere near the reccommended dosage), and they are a great energy boost, they really help to enhance my endurance. The two main ingredients are caffeine and green tea, which most people take for energy everday.
