Hi Everybody!
I'm new to the group. I just had a hysterectomy last Tuesday. Today is my Birthday and Anniversary. I have a new goal for myself to try to lose 15 pounds and know that it will be more of a struggle now than ever. I could sure use some advice and encouragement during this healing process. My activity level is minimal right now. I do plan to go back to work beginning Friday of next week. But I can sure tell you, I know why women gain so much weight after this surgery. Food Network, I love it, is a curse to us females. I am vowing to only cook healthy meals and try to stick to my 1300 calorie a day plan until I can resume my activity level.
Also, I live in Northwestern Wisconsin. It is snowing/raining here today. Kind of limits what can be done as far as activity goes, when the weather doesn't cooperate.
Hi alldog, I wouldn't focus right now on a caloric restriction but on eating healthy so you can recover quicker and gain your strength back. Do try to take it easy so you don't get hurt. Your body is doing deep healing. Besides, you have the rest of your life to get in shape. As for cooking, look into different styles of cooking, Asian cooking involves a lot of prep work with veggies, but it is fun, healthy and entertaing (helps pass some of the time). You'll be back to normal in no time. I wish you a quick and as painfree of a recovery as possible. Don't let the weather get you down. It is raining and gloomy here too :) My answer: pumpkin pie (I eat just the filling and toss out the crust)!
Thanks! I have felt great since waking up from anthestesia <sp? No pain what so ever!!! I'm back to work...grooming dogs. My son is doing the bathing for me and any heavy lifting. I have decided that right now I will just get stronger and worry about weight later. I just don't want to gain an extra 30lbs like some women do after this and then blame it all on the surgery. I think that's a cop out.
I love pumpkin pie and will be gobbling (LOL) it down soon!
