You can't give up! Just think about what you are doing this for, why you are making this lifestyle change.  Don't you want to feel good for once and for all?  So the scale won't budge but dont pay attention to numbers right now, its more about how you feel!  So my advice to you is don't weigh yourself for two weeks, keep doing what you are doing and you will see results.  Just keep going!
Ugh! I don't think starving yourself is good advice. Post your weight stats and eating habits and let folks offer their advice.
Someone needs a ban...

Take a deep breath, relax, and give us your stats.  You have a LOT of support and a BUNCH of people pulling for you, so you CAN DO THIS!

Forget the weight issues for a two hour block.  It is much healthier.  Go watch a movie, or even better, volunteer.  It gives you something to do, and put everything into perspective.  In the long run, that number on the scale is always changing, and isn't what we want to leave behind.

are you saying  i should be banned from the sight???

i did not quite understand ? well i am sick and tired of doing everything i can working real hard at this and not getting any results you know i have been exercising 5-6 times weekly for 3 months now started counting cals about 2 months now and you get no results my clothes do not fit etc.....how would you feel??

I know I sound like a broken record here, but have you added weights to your exercise routine? They will make you lose fat a lot faster than cardio! I personally like doing them a lot more than cardio and have to force myself to do it

Hi aksm4,

I am pretty sure that vendicare is referring to a post that was deleted because it was against posting guidelines and not directing that comment towards you.

Can you please provide more details to your daily routine?  (Calories Burned each day, Calories Consumed each day, activity level, workouts, your age, gender, weight, and height) This will help us out with responding to your posts.  :)

Thanks,

aksm4- NO!  I meant nothing but support for you.  I was against the jackass who wanted you to do something harmful.  You will find so much support here.  Stay around, and post when things get hard!

You're not eating enough calories....you're consuming just enough to live, but not fuel your workout, so your body thinks it's starving.  When that happens, it puts a lock on the fat because it assumes there's a famine on...why else wouldn't you eat?  That's what the body's thinking.

Fat is an energy storage, and if it thinks you're starving, it's rationing your fuel to help you survive.  The trick is to teach your body it's in a "feast", not famine, mode.

Try increasing your calories to compensate for the exercise.  It's like driving a car to NYC from Atlanta, but not having enough gas for the return trip.  You can get there, you just can't get back.  You have to fuel the body and the workout.

next i exercise 50 minutes 5-6 timesWEEKLYon my treadmill 15% incline about 4.0 miles per hour is tthat light activity or moderate?

15% incline at 4.0 mph!!!  WOWZA! That is amazing you can do that for 50 minutes. That is vigorous activity.  15% on the treadmill I use is almost the highest incline you can go. I do 6-8% incline and almost fall off the back it is so steep, lol. You have to be burning a TON of calories doing that. I would eat more on cardio days so you only have a 500 calorie deficit.  Then your body will not starve and you will lose fat.

YEAH BUT IM CONFUSED ABOUT HOW MANY CALS YOU BURN EVERYTIME I LOG IT IN IT NEVER SAYS MUCH ABOUT 400 CALS MAX ........

Manually enter it and bypass the system.  There's a link to the right hand side of the drop down box that will let you enter your specific information.  I do workouts that aren't listed on here and that's how I handle it.

I would recommend to change your workout routine.  HIIT (high intensity interval training) is known to be more effective for body fat loss.  So try HIIT.

Also, it would be better if you can add some weight lifting (I think Spiro already recommended it and it is a good recommendation).

What is your protein and fat intake %?  Many people say calorie is calorie but I don't think so.  Each goes through different mechanisms.  If you want to build muscle, it is also important that you eat enough protein (enough - not extremely high).

Did you check for your thyroid?  Also, any history of previous diet or illness that may cause slower metabolism?

If you are healthy, there is no way you won't lose.  So don't give up!!  You will win!!

actually i have an appointment on the 16 mach with my lupus docs and i will tell them to check my thyroid out something is not right........and no not on prednisone for the moment .....no kidneyproblems just skin related lupus....

I think you may need to take down the exercise a notch. More isn't always better. You could also try something like yoga. You sound stressed out (understandably, I know) and high stress can lead to weight gain.

You should definitly have you had your thyroid checked. And talk to your doctors--there may be a complication that you're unaware of.

ok what about this i have been thinking and in the past carbs and me

do not get along maybe i should cut the carbs out and see what happens......

anna

I couldn't hurt to lower your carbs (and stick to lower GI carbs at that) and increase your protein. I hate doing it, but when I do I find my weight drops.

what are GI CARBS!! can you give me some examples?

like what should i have for breakfast tomorrow?

lunch?

dinner?

anna

You can do it!

aksm4, ARE YOU in Canada?... if so, that isn't 4.0 mph, it is 4.0 kph, which is about 2.2 mph.  I do 30 min at 5.0, 10 of it at 15%  and I am not running, but I am burning over 300 calories in that 30 minutes (less when you are younger.) I don't leave it there though, I also do weights, and resistance band training for the muscle toning, not burnng calories.

Also, 2 days ago you said you went out and pigged out eating everything in sight, for about 2300 calories. So, you aren't doing everything right.  I don't mean that 2300 is all that bad, but you seem to have a consistency problem.  You need to set a plan and stick to it.  Find out how much protein, fat, carbs you are having and adjust your plan to a recommended ratio.  I try for 20% fat 30 protein, 50 carbs, but I am an old woman.  Don't use my ratio.

I plugged your stats into the BMI tool, and got this... Based upon your current Body Mass Index (BMI) of 24.6, you are currently classed as at a healthy weight.

I wonder if  you should actually be on maintenance (or barely under) and get some advice from a personal trainer for fitness.
