IBS, Gerd & diet

Quote  |  Reply

I posted this in the Food forum, but it was suggested I post it here aswell.

I am stuck in a food rut. My weight loss isn't coming along the way I would like it to, and I know it's because I'm doing something wrong with my diet. I have IBS and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease(acid reflux disease), so I can't eat as many different foods as I would like due to digestive problems. I am bloated often, and can get very severe bloating, to the point where I look pregnant. I cannot eat broccoli, yoghurt, cheese, milk, or anything even a smidge spicy just to name a few. My typical day looks like this...

Breakfast: Nutrilean+ shake

Snack: fruit (banana, pineapple, apple), or whole grain oatmeal

Lunch: Dempsters flatbreads(either spinach or whole wheat) with hummus, alfalfa sprouts and veggie ham. OR I will have Gardennay soup, or I will have the wrap and soup.

Snack: An apple or banana with 100% natural peanut butter

Dinner: Baby greens with alfalfa sprouts, chickpeas, walnuts, balsamic dressing

Is anyone experiencing similar problems? Or an anyone suggest how I can mix up my life a bit?

Check out http://www.helpforibs.com/.  It has information about diet, recipes, trigger foods, and "safe" foods that will calm your digestive system during a flare-up for people with IBS.  (I had that problem 3 years ago due to stress & the tips from the website were quite helpful for me).  Good luck Smile
