ice, ice baby
Can anyone tell me a good reason I should not be eating ice? We had a leftover bag from a party, and I'm enjoying eating all the crushed pieces at the bottom of the bag. It's so good, and calorie-free. Am I risking damage to my teeth?

Ask your dentist. I don't think I'd find that at all pleasant, so I have no advice.
I don't see anything wrong with it, except that it might be dirty. Chomp away.
I would suggest not eating too much. I have just heard that it can crack your enamel. I like crunching on ice too though.
I've heard it's hard on your teeth too. Don't know if that's true though.....
my sister and i have both been eating ice since we were kids - i sometimes have "cravings" for ice cubes, and so far, nothing wrong with my teeth. of course i don't go to the dentist twice a year like they want me to...and i don't floss... but as far as eating ice goes...i don't see a problem with it. if you are worried about cracking enamel or something, you can let the ice melt a little so it's a bit softer... i let my ice cube trays sit out for about five minutes before scooping them out.
enjoy your ice!

As a biophysicist, I can assure you that you won't crack your enamel on
ice, no matter what your doctor says. Not unless you've got the jaws of
life closing your mouth! Your jaw muscles just aren't strong
enough.

Today I met someone that told me her mother had big dental bills due to cracked teeth from eating ice. I've decided to let it melt a little first so it will weaken. My dental bills are seriously high already.
dude, I eat ice all the time....its sooo bad, but I'm anemic so I can't
stop...crunching on ice comes second only to breathing at times

It's a common belief that chewing on ice is a sign of sexual frustration. That could be sending out the wrong signal, or not. I learned of this by hearing it from at least two people in bars who used it as an icebreaker... of the pick up line variety.
