So..ive been craving ice cream(soft serve cone) for the past few days bc i have been sick and my throats been a little sore, and it just sounds perfect. but im on a diet, of 1200 calories a day to lose weight..i want to lose 5 pounds so bad but it seems like i stay at my current weight.

But the thing is..i know tomorrow i am going to Ponderosa Steakhouse for dinner bc my friend really wants to go, and i usually get a chicken monteray(152cal) no potato no fries..salad with fat free italian dressing..and roll and afterwards we always get soft serve cone from the desert buffet.

but TODAY my boyfriend will be comming over, and i Really want that soft serve today, and to take him out for ice cream. but if im having it tomorrow should i be having it today?I REALLY want it.. but i dont want to gain weight.

the past few days i havnt been able to exercise cuz ive been sick but i have done crunches the best i could.. about a hundred a day. im eating lighter things bc of loss of hunger being sick. Celery, apples, cereal for breakfast,toast...etc..

what can i do? please give me some nice adivce, i hate hearing those people who just bring you down about yourself

maybe get frozen yogurt instead? Or just make it fit in your calorie budget.

insead of icecream, freeze some non-fat yogurt maybe? or make yourself a smoothie with milk, and fruit?

or, what i always like to do to sooth my throat is take an icecube tray, pour fruit juice in (or that smoothie) and freeze them and suck on them. tasty!

and then tomorrow, go out with your friend and enjoy your icecream.

well the place i want to go today, its like extremely expensive for frozen yogurt or hard ice creams..soft serve is pretty cheap and my favorite..cuz i have a very sensative mouth/teeth so if i have ice cream in a cup or Hard ice creams..it really hurts my teeth but soft serve is perfect its the only thing i can really eat.

the calories for a soft serve small size cone...its about 168 calories..

if i work it into my calorie consumption, will that still be okay if i eat it two days in a row??

Yeah.

You won't gain weight if you eat about 1200 calories worth of crap food. :) It's all about calories in, calories out.

So if you eat sweets two days in a row, as long as you don't go overboard, you shouldn't gain weight.

But of course, it is healthier to avoid sweets...so don't do it so often.

GOOD LUCK! :D
IMO, ice cream and things like that should be "treats", not something to indulge in just because you really want to.  If you know you're going to have it with your bf tomorrow, I personally would hold off one day.  That way you won't have to worry about gaining, and also you'd probably appreciate it more tomorrow.  It's not good to get in the habit of indulging too often, because then you might find yourself giving into cravings for no good reason, and possibly binging.  Just my opinion, though.

Hmmm well today..if i got it with my boyfriend. then tomorrow at dinner with my friend, i could hold off and just not have it, cuz i like rainbow sprinkles, its always been my thing..and ponderosa doesnt have them soo.. if i got ice cream today, and got them..then i could just hold off and not have it tomorrow.

ive had ice cream 2 days in a row before, and been fine, even lost weight. but i just worry now that im closer to my goal..i dont want to gain even a pound backk

I agree with ratinhat. But also want to throw in that it sounds like you have a cold and IMHO dairy and colds are a bad combo. Why? I think it makes more mucous (yuk, more snot). I just had a cold and I tried some Haagen-Dazs Sorbet. It soothes the throat, has no fat, no dairy and about 130 calories for 1/2 cup. I liked it because I didn't feel like eating more.

Sorry but I think the soft serve stuff is crap, full of chemicals. Maybe think about something else like cuddling up with your bf instead of wanting that softserve....

I'm getting over my cold, i had a head cold. just made me tired as hell and a little sore throat.

i basically starved myself yesterday cuz i wasnt hungry..i ate bout 800 calories.

i would love to eat healthier ice cream but i mean-soft serve is all i can eat with the way my sensative teeth/mouth is lately. alot of the soft serve is jusr frozen ice milk and flavoring, my boyfriend works for a place that has it , and thats all it is.

but i mean. its just once, if i have it today..and then NOT tomorrow with dinner..wouldnt that be better anyways..cuz then im not filling up as much calories at dinner tomorrow..and fitting it into my calorie consumption?

You have my blessing, eat the soft serve and enjoy. Eat it two days in a row!! I'm sorry if I was too harsh in my other post. I guess you really love it, so yes, indulge :)

You're probably going to hate me for this but the more you think about and the more you post about wanting to eat ice cream, the worse it's going to get. Stop thinking about it!

If you have been sick and not eating properly, your body needs nutrients, not junk! Try a banana smoothie with banana, low/non-fat milk (or even better - soy milk) and some ice cubes. That's nice and cool for your sore throat and much better for you than ice cream.

As it was mentioned before, once you start breaking your rules, it can be hard to get back on track and stay there. You have to stay strong if you want to lose those last five pounds. Save your money - you're going to need it to buy nice new clothes once you reach your target!

Alright, here is some tough love. I don't intend this is a flame or insult. But it's what I would want to hear if I were in your situation. There is something very wrong with your approach to dieting. If you are that preoccupied with a serving or two of ice cream, you are letting your diet become obsessive. It is controlling you--you are not controlling it. You'll probably be able to lose 5 pounds on this diet, but if it's such a struggle, and so difficult that you end up obsessing over a serving or two of icecream, then the diet will not be something that you can maintain over time and you're going to eventually put the weight back on.

What you have to focus on is developing habits of eating that you can maintain as long-term changes to your lifestyle. 1200 is just too low. That is the minimum to avoid problems due to malnutrition, not the amount you have to stick with to lose weight. 1500 will allow you to lose weight and to keep it off (believe me, I used 1500 to lose 25 pounds in three months, and it's stayed off).

Take good care of yourself, including your mental health. When a diet leads you to agonize and obsess over small decisions, there's something really wrong with it.

Just eat it! As long as you budget, you won't gain wait. Life is too short to worry about eating ice cream 2 days in a row. Go have fun!
i love mcdonalds soft serve ice cream cone...aroudn 150 cals a cone and around $1.00. plus you aren't buying a whole pint or half gallon. its one serving. you eat it and its gone.

We don't know how old you are, how tall, how much you weigh, but I'm betting that barely getting 1200 calories per day is NOT ENOUGH for you. That is the bare minimum for women to consume, and that is for sedentary lifestyle.

If you move AT ALL during the day, I'll bet you'll be fine. Eat the ice cream.

I've actually been working on upping my calories because ive been maintaining at a low calorie rate..so ive been working on it. and

lfrigo-u are right, i do worry tooo much about my diet, which is stressful. i just have been good at losing weight, i never wanna gain. im going to just have the serving of ice cream, but work it into my diet, ive ate healthy all day, fruits, veggies, protein, and some (small) amount of carbs. im at 480 calories so far.. so i stil have another snack...ice cream..and dinner. i think it will work out alright today :)

and i did community service today for 3 hours..so that burned off some..

Sugarfree fudgsicle?
drink some soy vanilla milk...you know what scratch that. just have some icecream and keep it within your calorie range..plan ahead.
OMG    yall I found at the grocery store today 100 calorie icecream made by Breyers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   It IS the bomb!!!!!!!!!

thanks to all of ur post.. i ate the ice cream then later on had dinner, and STILL didnt have enough calories for a day. so i think i was alright. i had some fruit after dinner to make up the calorie intake.

tonight..is the dinner with my friend, and i dont even care if i had ice cream or not((which outta the dessert buffet i bet is the least calories and healthiest)) lol

but we'll just see by how many calories i need

I hate to burst any bubbles but....

NO Frozen Yogurt

"The only thing fro-yo has in common with real yogurt (the plain, non-frozen kind) is that they're both white. The frozen stuff doesn't have live cultures, which help maintain digestive health and the nonfat varieties are a mix of chemicals and artificial sweeteners. You're better off with a serving of organic ice cream. "
