I've been doing so well, but I'm starting to feel a craving surface, and that's for ice cream! I want to find some kind of low calorie ice cream to have a 1/2 cup of for desert at night before I highjack an ice cream truck. Does anyone have any suggestions of brands?
Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwichs. Choc, Vanilla, Mint. 140cals. Most grocery stores. Weight Watcher Cookies and Cream Bars 140cals also.
I eat fat free, no sugar added fudgecicles, but if you are allowed more cals than I am, my husband eats Blue Bunny reduced fat, no sugar added. His favorite is banana split. Hope this helps.
Skinny Cow fudge bars only have 100 calories and 4 grams of fiber. I also like Breyers Light chocolate. Its so good and even my boyfriend and daughters love it.
Two words: Skinny Cow
I seriously love ice cream - can eat it all year round, my DH loves chocolate. Last night we "fought" over the last Skinny Cow Fat-Free Fudge Bar. They are huge, creamy and only 100 calories. Easy to figure into my daily allowence.
We may try some of the other flavors this summer, but the fudge bars are sooo good.

Edy's Slow Churned has 120-ish cals per 1/2 cup. I prefer it because it tastes just like regular ice cream, comes in the same flavors as ice cream (not just vanilla, chocolate, etc but the ones with the stuff inside) and best of all it COSTS the same as ice cream, as in goes on sale whereas the skinny cow sandwiches have always been expensive where I shop.
ALSO -- I think it's Edy's has those "Loaded" flavors where it's more of the "stuff" (chocolate chips and cookie dough, in my case :) ) and less of the ice cream and only 130 cal per half cup for the cookie dough. I think it's less for cookies and cream. I LOVE this stuff!

Good Humor makes non-diet Ice Cream Sandwiches that are 130 calories. Also, the fat is not as low as those, but they carry those little dot Ice Creams in stores now. I know they have them in Wal-mart here. The cookies & cream is 155 calories & the banana Split is 129. I think they're called Mollicoolzdots or something like that. But they're like "Dippin' Dots." I was eating those for a while. Was a bit more of a lasting treat then some of the other options.
I won't eat any of the diet Ice Creams. I'm of the opinion that most products labeled Diet should be avoided. Otherwise i might try the new Breyer's (I think) 100 calorie cups or the Weight Watchers assortment like I used to eat years ago before I decided not to consume that much fake stuff anymore.

the breyers 100 cal cups are so good...got the cookies and cream ones and they satisfy the fix...ha.
also those little prepackaged vanilla and chocolate cups, the kind kids get a some birthday parties, are not diet but are packaged into 100 calories per serving.

The Safeway brand chocolate sorbet is 120 cals per 1/2 cup and is totally fat free.. and delicious.
Haagen-Daaz has a "light" ice cream with 1/3 less fat and calories. Wal-Mart's store brand (Great Value, I think?) has a fat free ice cream that ranges between 50-90 calories per serving, depending on the flavor. I have tried the butter pecan and the strawberry, and they are good. Another awesome alternative that I have done is the Great Value sherbet - usually the orange or the lemon & lime combination. It is fat free and usually not too high in sugar, and really satisfies the craving for something cold and sweet. Sorbet is another good option. You can even make your own version of sorbet at home with frozen fruit. Another idea - instead of ice cream, get some frozen fruit and low fat (or fat free) cool whip!
I'm an ice cream fanatic so I *had* to find healthier alternatives!! :D

well it isnt exacly ice-cream, but why not try a healthy smoothie instead. just add yogurt, and some fruit of your choice with a little bit of milk. its cold, tastes greast, and is healthy for you! :)
I freeze light n fit yogurt!
Or i make a smoothie for breakfast and freeze the rest and eat it as ice cream for dinner mmm!

I work at an ice cream shop so healthy alternatives became somewhat a nessesity. I really like frozen yogurts. They average between 100-120 cals per 1/2 cup, and I think they're almost as good as regualar ice cream and they don't have any strange ingredients that I can't pronounce. Also, the ones at my store (and probably elsewhere) are 95% fat free.
i was at a bbq at a friend's the other day. i'm not a dessert person, but everyone was having ice cream, so i figured i'd have a little. i hadn't had ice cream in almost a year - not because of "dieting" but because when i buy a pint, most of it ends up going in the garbage with freezer burn.
so i had a few bites of ben & jerry's and - omg. it was orgasmic. my friend candice was laughing at me, because, i swear, my eyes rolled back in my head.

I am not sure if anyone suggested this, but I eat Slim a bear ice cream sandwiches (100 calories and very good), or I have fudgsciles (60 calories each)...it fulfills my ice cream cravings.
Not sure if this has already been said, but one of the best ways I get my ice cream fix is with sorbet. You don't even have to waste money on it at the store. I usually make my own---just sugar, water and real fruit. It's naturally fat free and pretty low cal.
Although, if your craving is for something creamier, sorbet probably won't do the trick. Keep it in mind for the future, however. I find that sometimes I can silence a craving with it.
[Also- popsicles! Good Humor makes some that are only about 15 cals each!]

frozen bananas! or make your own fruit sorbets in addition to what the other posters have said.
I second the Slim-a-bear 100 calories bars. They are small but fierce.
If you are in NYC Tasti-d-lite is good.

Breyers Light is the best ice cream I've ever had...you could try that! :)
Whichever brand you choose, enjoy it, you deserve it.

BEST ICECREAM SUB EVA!
I dont even use vanilla (tho somethimes a bit of water helps it get going, or a drop of soy milk)
But if you want icecream, go treat yourself! Just go buy it from a shp so you dont eat the rest of the pack like me.
I had a full fat icecream yesterday . A huge 250 cals for an ice-cream cone. But I'd had enough for the day (nutrition wise) and had burnt off that much at the gym, so it was a great treat.
Deprevation inst the answer. Substitution or the occasional treat.
