I'm a die-hard green tea drinker since the fall. I make 3 cups a day from tea bags or from tea leaves. Anyone have a suggested recipe for making and ice green tea other than regular brewing and throwing ice in?

I get tired of boiling water every other day for tea.  I'm looking for instant or brewed green tea, decaff.  I'm disappointed that all I find in stores is sweetened.

I put a lg pot of water the stove, then throw 6 tea bags in when it boils, then remove.  This lasts me about 2 days.

Its a good idea to double-brew it if you're going to ice it; use two bags for a single cup's worth and several bags for a whole pitcher... add hot water, and whatever sugar or lemon you use, then let it steep for at least four or five minutes before removing the bags. Put it in the fridge to cool, and fill your cup up all the way with ice, and pour the cooled tea over it. I worked at a Saxby's Coffee and this was the method we used. =]

yea there is no real way to actually make the tea with out brewing it. There is also something called sun tea. I had it once at a friends house. Its something you do in the summer time. All you need is a glass jar with a lid and a about 6-8 tea bag. Make sure you used distilled water and that your jar has been properly cleaned. Sun tea is known for bacteria growth if its not done right. You leave it out in direct sunlight for about 3-5 hrs and then you can put it in the fridge to cool. There are also special jars that you can buy that are specificly for sun tea. Just google them. Hope this helps.

Why don't you just brew it in a pot and then put it in a pitcher in the fridge?

I just drop a tea bag in a bottle of water (500 ml) and leave it in the fridge overnight.  Works great, and then I have good strong cold green tea to mix with protein powder for my morning shake.  Actually I make 3 green and 3 red (Celestial Seasonings Black Cherry Berry flavor) every night so I can have tasty no-caffeine hydration in the late afternoon/evening hours.  No sweat/no boiling/no artificial ingredients/no problem.  Easy.

I have this great tropical green tea I love. I sweeten it with all-natural, zero calorie Stevia. I don't use sugar because of the calories, but alo don't use Splenda or any equivelent because it puts too much strain on the liver, which is counter-productive to losing weight. Brew half a cup, fill it with ice and leave the teabag in there. I drink these a lot.
